all the top picks in the world will not help us. We need to upgrade our C grade plodders with consistent b graders . Easier said than done as no good players would want to join us at the moment ..
If we are serious as a club , we need to trade some players who may have some value but don’t process the competitiveness to take us forward.
Draft them.

If we are serious as a club , we need to trade some players who may have some value but don’t process the competitiveness to take us forward.

And therein lies the rub.

We're not.

The club consistently fails to act and respond to the gravity of being bottom 2 for six straight years with appropriate words and actions. You'd reckon somebody in those six years would reflect the misery, frustration and embarrassment that supporters feel towards this team. A team that used to be renowned for punching above its weight and fighting the fight and responding hard to challenges. Not anymore. A palpable feeling that every stone is being turned to get the club back to at least being something North people can be proud of? Nope.

Instead, coaches, CEOs, Presidents, footy managers, recruiters and players lazily sell patience as if it'll all just magically turn and it'll be OK. That every week the other mob are just too good as if it's impossible we'll ever match them. That the community involvement, Women's team, membership and administrative functions - all important but none at the top of the to do list - are all hunky spunky. That the club is as stable as it's ever been - stable full of people who aren't performing in their job. And good players make the same fundamental skills errors every single week.

The club is as far away from its roots as it is from being a competitive and relevant entity. I wish I had a feeling that the club as a whole was genuinely serious about turning this around but there isn't one scintilla of evidence that it is.

1930-31- 1 game won
1934-35- 1 game won

Over 4 years that’s 2 wins
home video book GIF

How long did that take you to find?

Just gonna hang in there for another year after this season. But if there’s no tangible improvement or at least recognisable plan, not sure how I can keep putting myself through this.

I think I’ve just become accepting of the fact

And then wins like the Carlton game pop up and you get that buzz at the game we haven’t had for 5 years and that adrenaline rush triggers what could be coming.

The biggest challenge I reckon I face is just the lack of value on continuing to throw in $260 for membership when fixturing conspires against Country members.

This club has a unique ability to guilt us into paying up, only for the early purchasers to feel ripped off with discounted membership later on

Remember when we used to have by far and away the shittest list in the comp, we'd be everyone's spoon prediction, and then Laidley would have us go on a tear, take a few big scalps with pure energy and intensity (and lose some games we should win), and finish 4th to 8th?

**** I miss those days. Defying the odds. Challenging our fate with nothing but intensity.

This playing list have absolutely none of that. Bar maybe Xerri.

Not sure we can go further down. I'm like a few and have lost a lot of interest. Wasn't until Friday I realised we play Saturday.

I enjoy the chat on here for the most part. I don't read the paper. I have a mate with some wonderful stories from days gone by.

Our lack of competitiveness is on us, all on us . I cannot see how those in charge have the ability to turn this around.

I feel for some of our better players and would completely understand if they want out .
Cam Zurhaar has played in over 100 losses.
No decent players want to go to North. We have become just like Fitzroy in those last few years, well similar but without their ticker.

The game has moved past being a battler from the suburbs.

Dani Laidley to replace Clarko???

Feel there’s a profound rot at this club. Just a culture that is allergic to winning and giving up when it gets slightly tough. It has flowed into player development and created a vicious cycle. Sheezel is an example of this, as a leader trying too much to cover for others and ends up a worse player than he started as.

Not too long. The NMFC history web page details every dismal year of the 1930’s.

I couldn’t find a 1930’s thread on BF to capture the angst however
You need the BF telegraph app to see those threads.

Remember that part when people said stability is the key.

No wonder we are ****ed. Our pillars are either past it or not up to it.

Need some level of modern ingenuity to propel this club forward because we are ****ed.

commercially, off field and on field.

Get it going or ****ing wrap it up

Edit: forgot Sonja. Time to pack it up and sit back in the stands I don’t care how much money we lose from your benefactor that supposedly is propping up this club

I ran into a North supporter last night by mere circumstance and had a positive experience just chatting. Reminded me why I care about all of this.

We have the best supporters in the league, I’m so sure of that (even though I’m biased!).
Unfortunate about the actual club at the moment though. The wrong custodians are in control.

Oh, we’re stable.

Just sign everyone up for long term deals, give them tonnes of money, but don’t follow up on anything.

Dont rock the boat by expecting anything from them.

Stability 👍🏼

How are we stable?

Someone was posting in the coaching thread that the four different coaches we had in the past four seasons all had the same problems with players.

Four different coaches!

So you’re saying it doesn’t matter what coach we have, the team achieves the same?

That’s okay isn’t it? Isn’t that was happens at Geelong? We have a stable performance culture like them.

LOL. I've made my point about that repeatedly. You know what I meant and if you don't there's no real point saying it again.

Geelong have had two coaches across this entire century and the same people behind the scenes doing the same thing they've done for decades. That is stability.
