Everything is squarely centred in mindset.
If we do not have that right, and do not apply the right mindset to everything that we do then everything else will trend downwards.
Talented kids do not just come in and lose the ability to be a talented kid. It is worn away over time by what is accepted as being passable.
How can anyone in good conscience explain to a kid they have substandard disposal when the captain turns it over 10 times? or how they took short steps when we bring in mercs who are soft as shit, continue to play them despite being soft as shit?
We need a cultural shift where the talk of the talk needs to marry up to the walking of the walk. Right now we do one, but the other is and has been severely lacking for a long time.

I love your optimism The Talent Scout, as well as everything you post in the National Draft Thread (I was only joking about being depressed every time I visit it.)Well not me, I'll die a kangaroo supporter/member, even though the last five years have been bad, it was the first rebuild and probably the last rebuild we will ever see, but we needed it so bad it wasn't funny, going through the tough times being a supporter is where it shows how much of a supporter you really are, even five years of it, when your winning and even mid-table it can cover over some of those cracks and life's good.
Look at some of the so called big clubs having less than twenty thousand people at the footy lately, ones that have a very large fanbase, when they are in finals they come out of the woodworks, the real supporters are the ones that follow their "team no matter what", it doesn't mean that you can't be disappointed or ask the club what they are doing to improve for next year.
I'll be keeping a very close eye on this years trade & free agency period and then the draft to see who we are after, if my suspicion is correct, then it aligns with what we are after player wise and position wise, four months time will tell.
In hindsight I should have written; I'm both equally impressed and staggered at how many members we have…
We're an extremely resilient lot, although I do believe we're being pushed to the absolute extreme of that resilience right now.
I hope you're suspicions are right and the free agency / trade period is fruitful for us we need a few players who can move the needle because I'm not sure if the broader supporter base can last much longer with these incremental improvements.

The club seems to think that we are the only side that are allowed to improve, as if our ladder position isn't relative to how every other team goes.

Yep. If there was a gap in supporter numbers between us and the big few amongst the previous few generations, late stage Gen Z and whatever comes after it, in terms of North fan numbers, will resemble a nuclear bomb site.
I hope most of you campaigners are planning on staying alive and mobile till 130

I'm at the stage where I just don't give a fats rats clacker anymore. The club should've merged with us back in the day to form a super power club. We would have well over US$12mil in the bank earning compound interest. It lets the club pick & chose which comp it wants to play in, which players to buy and how many interstate games it wants to play, and where. That's how you win a flag in the modern game.

Anyone born in 1960-1970 had it good.

Before 1950 saw some bleak times
Someone born in the 1990’s plus has seen the worst era in history
We also nearly had our club taken away twice.
I was born into a North family dating back to entry into the VFL. You take the struggles of those onboard.
