Did people tune out last year?

Two wins. One against a wafl side and one with the biggest disparity in scoring shots for twenty years.

Through sheer luck we avoided a deserved 0 win season. We had the lowest percentage in a decade, and set a record that will stand forever by not getting within 47 points of an opponent for 11 straight games.

We’ve improved a ton this year.

We had 11 of these pathetic losses in a row last year and many more scattered throughout.

This one only hurt so bad because some of us had an expectation of being competitive, an expectation that the club had earned this year due to the improvement shown onfield, particularly at Marvel.

This year we're in the bottom 0.01% of all AFL sides ever, but last year was truly a .00000001% showing of terrible football. You can argue that this is rock bottom due to the cumulative time spent being pathetic, but we'd absolutely belt last year's side.

What the Richmond winning side of 2022 would have been beaten by yesterday’s team almost 12 months to do the day?

Xerri is a better ruckman than 2022 Goldy?

McKay is a better version of 2022?

LMac, JZ? Corr?

The rest have largely stagnated with a rotating list of ins and outs

We’ve gone backwards and regressed across the ground this year with Sheezel and Wardlaw giving us any optimism for the future.

This year is worse than last. Come back to me when the delisting and retirements start over the next 6 weeks

I don't buy it. Yesterday was our 6th loss by 45+ points when last year we had 15 of them. That included a 13-game losing streak where the average margin was 60. The six-point margin at halftime yesterday would have been unheard of last year. That's better than what we served up during the lows of last year when we'd typically be down by 6-8 goals at the half.

Even if we were a little bit more talented, it's offset by the handicap of having David Noble as coach.

Young was looking better too.

Wat the new haircut?

I’ve sat and listened to Radio and TV this past 24 hours and am yet to see or hear any pundit turn around and say yeh we’re on the right track compared to a year ago

If anything it’s abject pity

Yeh mullets were 2022

Heaps on this Board would prefer that we now retreat to safer ground by topping up with C graders. Not for me. It would mean all this pain's been for nothing.

A simpler solution is not to play the senior guys anymore ( Ziebell, McDonald, Shiels, Greenwood, Goldy, Cunners (pains me on him) Hall and Howe) and hand the keys to Larkey/LDU/Simpkin/Logue/Zurhaar/Scott/Thomas.

It's their team now.

They all need to take on the responsibility and not check out because there's senior blokes not cutting it above them. Clarkson needs to remove that alibi now.

They need to set the tone for the likes of the next group- Bergman/Ford/Goater/ Sheezel/Wardlaw/ George/Powell/Phillips/Comben. All talented and craving direction.

There will be more young talent that wants out, end of season. God damn we're shit! Has all the makings of a Carlton rebuild. LDU, sheezel and wardlaw would be mad to not look elsewhere.

Yeah, the mass exodus hasn't happened yet. Imagine how shit we will be when it does...... extinction level event.

A little early for that. They're all under contract until end at least end of 2025 so unless that trade deal is incredible you don't have to jump.
We definitely need to be playing better next year to keep Zurhaar and TT who come out of contract end of 2024.
A massive preseason can change a lot as well as having continuity in the coaching program. 8-10 changes on the list, with potentially some big names amongst it, can also change the group dynamics if competitors and driven people are brought in at the expense of those who are not to the level or have checked out or are coasting. I reckon it will be a rude awakening with him overseeing his first full preseason. Let's hope its a brutal one.

Marstermind is there a statistical measure between 22 and 23 to see who would beat who?

In all honesty, most statistical measures would have 2023 being slightly better than 2022. But 2021 and 2020 would narrowly beat both.

All of which means precisely fuq all because all four seasons were friggin shyte.

Yep 2022 was as low as low gets. Almost impossible to sink any lower than 2022. In a way it's alarming that we are comfortably better now in 2023, yet still remain 17th with only 2 wins.
