I do think we now have enough talent and green shoots to be confident the worst is well behind us. But my fear is that another year of mainly Ls could lead to some important players looking for the exit door, thus pushing us back down to where we were a year ago, just because they don’t want to risk this being their whole career. We desperately need a couple of 4 quarter efforts leading to Ws to install belief.
I feel like Zurhaar will leave if it's another 2-3 win season.

Which important players?

Larkey is locked in, as is Logue, the rest of the important players are either in their 1st or 2nd year

Except for LDU the rest can leave

Losing both LDU and Zurharr would be trouble. LDU is obviously a critical keep. Zurharr is still far from what we need him to be, but he is at least a mature body with genuine talent.

17, 600 first home game of the year, with say 1000 Freo fans ?

Yep ✔
I wouldn’t take today as a measuring stick. Grand Prix, flower show, awkward time slot with kids and local sport, and Good Friday next week almost locked a small crowd in.

. Carlton
. Brisbane
. Geelong

0 - 5 a distinct possibility.

. Hawthorn
. Adelaide
. St.Kilda
. Suns

1 - 8 a distinct possibility

. *
. Port
. Eagles

2 - 10 a distinct possibility

I'll stop there. Best scenario l can see is a 4 - 19, if we are lucky.
Possible scenario. Maybe likely. We're still improving.

I think people forget how spectacularly uncompetitive we have been for the last 4 years. Literally the worst ever.

Got to be patient and watch the improvements. It'll still take years.

Forget ?
We can't afford another 4 years of this.

I consider myself pretty rusted on and even I’m becoming disenchanted. Won’t stop me paying for my membership but it does make it hard to want to spend what little time you’re not working getting pissed off at a ball game in a soulless stadium in ****en Docklands.

No one forgets
It’s all we know

I’m going to get to as many matches as I can this year, including aways, before I decide.
Even with the loss today, my kids want to go again, so that’s an improvement.
Tell the kids to hang in there, things will turn around.

Yes we have some nice mids, so does every other team
We still don’t have a back 6, CHF or small fwd
I’m watching less and less, but big footy is my therapy

The so called "important players" need to knuckle down and do something about it.

You miseryguts have short memories.

Today was a disappointing result. But it was also some of the most exciting footy we've played since... 2 games ago v GC, which was the best since the mini-bump Richmond and Collingwood wins under Rhyce.

We have so much talent in the team compared to the past. You know the list. We have an actual gameplan which we haven't had for some time. We can kick goals. We have an entire backline with quality components developing in the VFL. We've reduced our major list gaps to just a KPF and a small forward (if you include Logue and W. Dawson as quality KPDs). We've retired the swamp of mediocre experienced spuds and passed through the loss of Cunnington and Goldstein. We can run out games. We have an injury list that fits on a single A4. We won't be losing any quality to age for some time.

Rock Bottom is now so clearly in the rear view mirror that we can begin debating when it actually was.

Was it the last of our soul-destroying "safe" 50-point floggings under Noble including 2 goals to 18 after quarter time?

Or the whacking we got in round 23 that same year after 5 consecutive losses after the brief spirit we showed as Nobes was shown the door?

Two games ago - and just a year later - we smashed a better GC in the corresponding fixture.

Even the 19 games streak last year wasn't as bad as either of those points. The moments of promise, the performance of the younger players and the Clarko stuff made it feel much more manageble.

We have become a very young, talented team that has to learn to work together and get some consistency.
Now to bury a chicken bone and lift the curse.

Zurhaar like the other experienced players needs to take some responsibility. We have kids putting in great shifts and we are being let down by our experienced players.

If he leaves he leaves. But he might leave only to find out that these kids start building towards something special and he misses out.
