Just to be clear - there will be change. There will be better development. The club will grow from this. When the pale of this annus horrobilus is lifted at the end of the year and the youth we have get another year together and have a fresh game plan, the green shoots will come. They haven't lost their ability, this talented list of youngsters, along with the new draftees (we will get #1, a priority pick, Cooper Harvey and maybe 1 or 2 others). The fog will lift and 2023 will be a better year so we need to keep one eye on that prize despite the tumultuous time we are enduring now.

I'm prepared to place any amount of money you would like on the fact we will have a losing margin of 30 points or less by the end of the year. And it will be magnificent.

It wouldn't have made any difference - we aren't capable of generating scoring shots (FWIW until half time we were on par with this for the first time in a long time so that structural change helped somewhat). McKay back would have simply changed the shape of another guaranteed loss IMO - I've reached the point where I believe it is clear that our issues are structural. There was enough talent in that 22 to be more competitive against a bottom 4 team.

Change needs to come now, whatever that circuit breaker is it needs to happen ASAP - we are past the point where tweaks or little fixes will help. Good teams will close those down and we will again drop our heads.

I agree, I think it is structural, partly. But I also think a lot of this is mental. Remember that Richmond were average at best until they developed the 'mindfulness' system. They then looked like this amazing team that was out and out full of champions. The bombers were similar in 1993. They had nothing to lose by beating the best. Almost like there was no pressure on them and so they played that way. I think we are suffering from self suffocation and from structure.

Rock bottom on field will be several really heavy 80+ thrashings followed by a nuclear 170+ double handed 2 way bitch slap. These consistent 10 goal losses are kind of ‘respectable’ and are flying under the radar a bit. They are kind of par for where we are at. It could and should be worse. We are that bad.
Unless the club fixes it’s off field stuff up, coaching, player welfare/development etc then we’re basically ****ed. The AFL industry will feast on our carcass. Players will want out, Tassie talk will get ramped up etc. The president and CEO have a massive job on their hands.

Since the end of 2019, it's 8 wins from 54 games.

I don't know how that compares to the Melbourne 08/09/11-13 sides or last Fitzroy team but that would be the cripple fight to end all cripple fights. Probably not as many 100+ point losses as those sides, but we are in a lower scoring, flooding era so our weekly 10 goal losses are the equivalent of it.
