Opinion Is this rock bottom?

You know that's not what I am saying. It's clearly not rock bottom.
However, I am saying that our improvement has been overstated by many.
We have beaten the bottom teams and GC off a marvellously friendly draw.
Our last six weeks has been largely ordinary, capped by yesterday.

You're making out as if we lost six games in a row when we didn't.

How is that different to me saying "If we kicked straight and weren't ****ed by the umpires we would have flogged the Swans when they were on top of the ladder."

Because that's as true as what you're saying.

We have only played teams below us or teams in the finals race. We beat one of those - should have beaten three more in a perfect world and lost one game against teams below us in pretty embarrassing circumstances. In the next seven games we play three teams just above us on the ladder and Port at home. That will tell us more about where are at than anything else so far this season.

We have improved significantly but we still have three glaring issues - the ability to defend fast opposition ball movement, the ability to stop an opposition run on and the ability to play football in the second quarter.

That's so far ahead of where we were this time last year.

If Port picked up the phone and said, “We want Wardlaw and Goad for JHF”, would you do it? (On the assumption JHF was happy to play in Melbourne)

No I wouldn't, would I see if Goads has any interest elsewhere absolutely. We don't need him and Xerri. And we cannot play both. Or trade Xerri.

But yeah wtf would I or we know about it. Just mug supporters

LOL. You're tripping.
Compare the output of Wardlaw vs JHF as a NEUTRAL observer......

NM fans love Wardlaw - Me included - but we are screaming out for a goal-kicking mid like JHF. But anyway.......NM fans as a whole will never acknowledge the talent of JHF because he left.
We'd rather heap praise on guys like Spargo & Konstanty because they wanted to come to NM.
I dare say there's a fair % on here who rate Spargo & The Kont ahead of JHF.

I don't think there are that many here that rate those 2 above JHF. I may hate the bloke but I'm not above acknowledging that he's better than those spuds on our list. Would be best 22 comfortably by the flemington straight

We had one and he ****ed off. The reason we hated JHF is cos he was so talented but left.

But if he had George's on field application and intensity he'd be the best player in the comp by a mile.

Rock bottom, imo, will be next week if Wet Toast smack us again.

Its going to be very interesting to see how the boys roll up next week. They should be breathing fire after that performance but I won't be holding my breath.

To sell 2 home games and be smacked in both in a year we have 'improved' should have tickets being formed in the background for a board challenge...

I think only the insane would not want JHF and TT and a better pick than Phillip at pick 3.

It's a cluster **** some of our making and some of others.

Poort fans are flogs and that doesn't help the situation.

Honestly I can take or leave JHF. Him vs Wardlaw - at least Wardlaw doesn't pick and choose*. Which is out biggest problem and has been since Spud left.

TT may have been a bludger off field but onfield he never shirked a thing. He'd immediately make us a three win better side and was the main reason we were "the best wooden spoon team ever" in 2021. LDU and Jy were good as well but TT changed games for us.

When asked why he'd want to coach North before anyone thought it would happen Clarkson immediately said TT and LDU without hesitation. We had JHF ... he didn't mention him.

*Our biggest problem is above the shoulders and part of it has to do with absolute commitment to the moment and the next contest.

When’s the last time a NM team came out breathing fire? Maybe Clarko should get Gene Simmons down to training.

Just listened to a podcast and Riley Beveridge made the point that even if we get up off the canvas, win games against fellow bottom dwellers and end the season with 10 wins the lasting memories many fans, agents and players will carry of us risk being the disasters against Adelaide and Freo because they were so horrific.

I fear he is correct. That will not help us when it comes to free agency. Winning a few games against similarly troubled teams won’t erase that. Not even if we were to batter e.g. Tigers, Bombers. We are going to need a couple of genuine signature wins to offset those stinkers and convince the people we need to convince that we really are on the up.
