Opinion Is this the worst North team ever?

The L streak is at 14....what's the all time record?

It feels like the team has become one of those country clubs that's don't win for multiple years. I genuinely don't see when our next win is, even next year.

Neither do I.

Who is to blame is a different discussion, but I am confident this is the worst North team ever.

I thought the 2000s post flag team towards the end of the Laidley era was our worst, but we were actually fun to watch and competitive despite bottoming out a premiership team and turning the list over, we had great players then in retrospect despite never being a chance to make a finals campaign.

This? This is so much worse, multiple spoons breaking a drought since '74, a compromised, unskilled list, and playing some of the most unskilled shocking footy with no star players. It's diabolical.

Well in my lifetime it clearly is.

Just a complete and utter rabble.

The thread I started was more to try and compare to years past, so yes I think now we must be very close.
Someone like 'Mastermind' might dig out the comparative stats from years gone by, if can be bothered. I'd be surprised if we ever have had a lower %

Completely agree Billy.

I also thought Laidley years were pretty bad.

Now we have this.

Really, really bad.

Have probably seen 95% of Victorian games over the past 40 years. Easily the worst team/list in my time. Other times we've been rubbish we'd be at least competitive. It's not just the coach here, it's basically everything....recruiting, fitness, development, professionalism, attitude, mindset. hunger. The club lacks on and off field leadership. The rest of the season will be truly diabolical.

Your thoughts tazaa?
Definitely. Worse than anything produced in 2001, 2006, 2009 and any of the Scott years including 2019. Basically AFL era. 93 pre-season included.

I mean there’s not a semblance of a competent team playing on the weekends.

Back when we were succesful, we didn't carry any players in our team who were absolutely averse to any kind of contact. That's why I like watching the top teams of today. Stop recruiting skinny kids would be a good start.

Thanks mate.

Thing is, well for me at least as i'm 41 so grew up with the 90s era, I dont know the past.

What I do know that even if Laidley's worst years I still felt we had a chance.

I no longer feel that way with this team/coach.

My expectations week on week are the lowest ever, in the past I has some optimism but not this year.
There is a wall a half forward and we have no idea how to get past it.
The coach need to go, this cant continue.

Below are our wooden spoon years plus the lowest % years by other clubs from 1925. This will be our worst season particularly if we continue our form over the remaining weeks. Its not beyond being possible that we can take St Kilda's 1955 lowest % (for a wooden spooner) off them.

As I suspected.

The worst North team off those stats.

Thank you Limerick

not a chance. in fact i think this is one of the most talented teams i've ever seen north field. it's all on the coach.

hugely talented players like thomas and stephenson spit the dummy, that's not great, but it all falls back on the coach. he should know how to approach these players. it's not up to young kids to be professional as soon as they enter the system, it's up to the coach to develop all these qualities.

Old enough to remember Brian Dixon's final year when we only beat South Melbourne. We at least had the nucleus of a good team. The current list is definitely the worst. At least in 1973 we could buy our way out of trouble...

Thank you Boner Spirit

Exactly, the opinion of those older than me, which I welcome.
