Re: Is this why scully could leave

Cheers mate. The press have just assumed that GWS would have someone by now and needed a name. Scully looks to just want some leverage at the end of the year for his contract to get the amount he wants.

Gee GWS are going to be crap next year. GC is just a taste.

Collingwood v GWS will be a joke. AFL went about it the wrong way, both are too shit at the start and will be too good later. Freo and Port both won ~8 games in their first seasons, and if freo didn't trade guns like farmer, mcleod, etc. for a 6 pack and some doritos they would have been much better in the next few years

Re: Is this why scully could leave

Mate even Richmond supporters dont see him as any chance to come to Richmond.

Some 15 year old supporter has posted the possibility of him coming to us because he barracked for us, even we ignore it.

Cant see him leaving. The only worry is that Carolyn Wilson has said that he WONT.

If this was directed at me, than the fact that you know my age is creepy :p

But what I said was slightly tongue in cheek. I'm 99% sure that Scully isn't going anywhere, including GWS and Richmond. If he was to go anywhere, he'd choose to stay in Victoria with a pay rise at his childhood club, rather than sell his soul to a team in the Outback and be coached by Sheedy + struggle for about 5+ years.

But he'll be at the Demons ;)

Re: Is this why scully could leave

Another positive piece of opinion/information on the Scully saga:

Caroline Wilson, The Age 23/04/11

"Melbourne would receive much deserved sympathy should it lose Scully to Greater Western Sydney - something which still appears unlikely - even though it appeared to deliberately lose games to recruit him."

The GWS rumours seem to be losing a fair bit of steam recently. Can only be a good sign for us.

Re: Is this why scully could leave

Scully isn't dumb, he knows that he's going to be a major part of the new generation of Melbourne players. He is going to be the one to influence the new kids coming to the club, the drinking suggestion is a non-issue.

Players are pretty smart now, guys like Scully will be already looking at his life after footy, which is why it was a very good move by the club to send him and our other guns up to Sydney for the weekend for the intro into media.

With the contacts that our club has Scully knows that he'll be very well looked after if he performs well.

Re: Is this why scully could leave

The Skull is staying at Melbourne. There is no "drinking" or "culture" problem at The Dees. Its all made up media propaganda to sell papers. As I have said before its all .......boooooldust.

Re: Is this why scully could leave

Throw in the likelihood that he'll be a future captain for us...

It was kind of ironic that we sent him to Sydney in a bid to keep him away from Sydney. :p

Re: Is this why scully could leave

Well that rules out Carlton and Richmond, both have had drinking problems. Doubt any club doesn't have some players who drink. It aint a Melbourne culture problem but rather a footballers culture problem.
