I think he's a damn good player. Has been very impressive and I can see the Hird like qualities. True he isn't an inside player and probably cops a bit of stick about it, but he's young and skinny and wasn't recruited for that purpose anyway.

I just think it's a mixture of him playing for the Pies and the constant 'my Brad Dick is bigger than your Brad Dick' that people don't rate him. I think all teams supporters are guilty of this. Not sure what you get out of arguing about who's the better draftee or who's getting more kicks etc. Each player is recruited for a particular purpose and role and anybody who knows anything about football would know this.
No, no, no, no and no!!!!!
Thomas is the second most soft, excuse for a player in the league, only behind Heath Scotland. Thomas has less skill, which therefore makes him the most overrated player ever. To even mention him in the same breath as Hird is disgusting. Shame on you!

Agreed...

He is a long way off Hird status...

Did I say he is better than Hird. I'm talking about potential here and didn't say he was in Hird's league. If you remember back, Hird wasn't the great player he was when he first started. I just liken Thomas to a young James Hird with a lot less hardness. (I'd still back him in in a tussle with Vodka Cruiser though). He may not turn out as well, but if I had to compare him with anyone, as far as the way he plays around the ground etc, it would be a young James Hird. The one that had only played a handfull of games, the one that hadn't won a brownlow yet. Not the bloody superstar James Hird. People take things way to literal around here.

Also go and read my last statement. Scotland is not employed to be a hard man by the Carlton Football Club. If he was he would have got the sack already. He is there to get the ball and rebound it out of defense. He got plenty of the ball from last season and I believe he was at the pointy end of the field of top possesion gatherers from memory.
