Their 3 great hopes, Pies with the best home ground advantage, Hawks with the seasons best free kick advantage and Geelong with the softest back half of a very easy draw advantage, all fell short.

You love to see it.

Pies are cooked, so they'll make way for St Kilda who are busy buying a finals spot, Cats will cotton on to another default spot in the top 4 and Hawks will get the rub of the green again but its looking real ugly after that.

For all the bravado about how Vic clubs are just run better, you watch them squirm and manipulate the levers until they find a way to be 'just run better' again, lol.

The AFL, VFL just enabled all the northern states to dominate the league for the next decade. Reap what you sow.

The only way the AFL can fix this is to enable all clubs to have their version of academies (not just NGA's) that they have direct access to during draft period. But it must be funded by the clubs with cap limits and not by the AFL.
