For those who have watched a lot of the VFL where is likely to play in the senior team?
Half back? Or up forward?
Could be either really. He is named at half back. But lately in vfl he has been forward/mid, though sometimes floats to half back if needed. If its at half back, then it can release nick into the midfield.
Has pace and aggression like not too many, so that will be a nice quality no matter what end of the ground he'll play.

I like the idea of him playing in the forward line, could be another tackling machine in tandem with McCreery while also letting Beau push into the midfield more, especially in the absence of De Goey.

It's certainly possible we could play Chugg in defence and move Daicos to the midfield but do we want to upset what has been a winning defensive combination for 4 weeks with a first gamer?

For mine Chugg seems to have really elevated himself in the mind of McRae since his move forward at VFL level so I'm expecting his role to primarily be providing forward half pressure.

To be honest McCreery has impressed me in recent weeks with his ability to win more football through the middle of the ground (especially late in games) so I'm wondering if we'll give him more midfield opportunity and see if he can provide some of the same physical presence around the stoppages that de Goey can deliver.

He averages 10 disposals at VFL level across his 20 games. Has kicked 3 goals in those 20 games.

I understand trying a bloke at AFL level to see if he thrives, but this was just an absolute pity selection of a bloke who hadn't earnt a spot and who is clearly going to be delisted at years end. We are in top 8/even top 4 contention now, no more of that crap, please.

In the absence of JDG, who should we have had in instead?

He simply is NGE (or NOT GOOD ENOUGH). Give young Josh Carmichael a run next week after
again the Gold Coast instead.

Literally anybody else.

Harsh.

Yeah, he clearly struggled with the change of pace, but I reckon any first game small forward would have today.

If his foot had connected with that ball going across goal early in the last, we’d be singing his praises and calling him out to be a 150 game player.

How many times have you seen him play before today? That was his standard at VFL level as well minus a couple of turnovers.

Why is it harsh? Somebody has to be the last player on the list, who is it if it isn't Chugg? He's shown barely anything at VFL level. He didn't struggle with the change of pace, he's never even gotten used to the pace at VFL level.

And I can assure if you he managed to somehow connect his foot with a ball and kick a goal, the outlook wouldn't be any different.

Not sure why die hard, rose eyed supporters think every player is great and has to make it and to say anything against them is blasphemy. Huge percentage of players don't make the cut; Chugg's going to be a part of that number I guarantee it.

Literally anyone? Chugg would have to be close to 40th on the list in terms of deserving a senior game.

Exactly. We're winning through system intensity. It was him or the Browns, otherwise intensity would have dropped off.
Yeah he certainly brought the heat today. No way Poulter, Macrae, Ruscoe, Draper, Murley etc could've brought that level of intensity.

He was literally too scared to call for the ball...
