Future 2nd for a future 3rd merry-go-round

Potato potatoe. When people say it cost us our second rounder they’re correct, regardless of the supposed ‘change’ we got.

A deal yielding Murray and a pick around the 50 mark, for the cost of our 2018 second round pick. Call it a downgrade, or whatever you want, the result is the same. We no longer have a second round pick. We’ve significantly weakened our hand in next years draft for a rookie that shouldn’t have ever had such a high pick involved in the first place, and that’s what people are upset about. Trying to spin it by calling it something different changes nothing.
Didn't have a 2nd rounder this year and ended up getting Hoskin-Elliott for a 3rd rounder as we would have used the 2nd rounder on Murphy

Next year you might see us get that Key backman we need and an outside jet or two and give up less for not having a 2nd rounder

Let the magic man do his job

Fantastic, Hine lucked out this year. At least WHE’s price could be reasonably justified given he’d actually proven himself at senior level and was a former top 5 pick.

Looking forward to picking the next Goodyear at pick 50 next year.

What did we pay for Aish? How’s that working out?

When Sier Ramsay Kennedy and Freeman all turn in to good players I can see the premiership coming to Collingwood. What a waste of picks.
You can't cite Freeman, that was injury

And I can find you a handful of dud picks just like those at Hawthorn, Richmond, Geelong etc

But hey you keep us updated on Wooller mate, sounds like he could be a good pick up for us o_O

We could've used an Aish 2nd rounder on WHE, still got Murphy & picked up a KPP.

The if's & but's.

do better
Just saying he’s lost his magic. In fact the only real ‘magic’ he’s done is Pendlebury at 5. Everyone else was chosen about where they were meant to be taken and those that didn’t were spuds anyway.

Try saying that when Murphy becomes a gun and should have gone top 5, say it when Maynard becomes the new raging bull or De Goey becomes our Dusty or it becomes apparent Stephenson should have gone number 1

Any updates on Wooller?
Exactly. Should’ve gone top 5 so picking him at late was a no brainer. How’s that magic?

Yeah, such a no brainer 17 other clubs passed on him... twice!

I'm starting to suspect you don't know how the no brainer works :p

But seriously, Wooller, are we a chance? o_O

We couldn’t take Woolier because we used that pick on Aish.
On Murphy yes we past on him with pick 6 but in what world was Stephenson going at pick 1? You could say 15 players were going at 1 at some stage but who cares really. We thought Kennedy was a steal. Turns out he was a spud. We over paid for Aish who has done nothing.

Dude you are all over the shop, even if you had got within a country mile of spelling Wooller's name correctly there's zero evidence we would have picked him

Jesus. Why not take the guy that won the BnF.
Blair won the Morrish Medal. Best and fairests at TAC level don’t mean much at the end of the day.

Sorry to interrupt all the boring as batshit Murray trade arguments etc with an on topic post.

But...........

We must legislate at Collingwood that as long as we select Quaynor that he must always keep the fro.

Love the fro!

It doesn't matter what we got what we gave up was the right to participate in the 2nd round of the draft or the currency it provided us in other ytrades/fa/academy points.

The cost to us was a 2018 2nd round selection, which we recieved Murray, 2017 pick 70 (useless) and 2018 3rd round selection (with sydneys list likely a pick from 50 onwards).

You can't go effectively we only gave up pick 40 because that is just fairy land stuff and does not show the real value of what we gave up.

We gave up a cow for a chicken no matter how much a farmer tries to appease his wife and explains this deal, he cant say "effectively we only gave up a goat!".

Fairyland stuff, cow for a chicken?
I agree with you can't say it was only pick 40 , can't say what it's worth YET
WHAT WE KNOW
1 we needed a quick rebound defender, our guys and other experts picked him as a mid 20 this year if in pool( toomey) and he's could play early, lowering the cost
2 we don't know how he's going to go, if he plays ,win, if he plays well or even real well ,huge win, this off course lowers the cost
3 we can only assume that the ladder positions will be? , we could finish higher than them as an example then that lowers the cost again
We have identified other talent that will fit our future needs and drafted accordingly again. Explained and now proven

With Lynch, Quaynor and Kelly all hot on our radar it may well be that we have already spent our first three tickets in this "superdraft"".

Will be a very interesting off season. Hopefully we also have a very interesting actual season with solid on field results. And a poorer than expected year from the Swans might help us in the draft order stakes!
