It didn't seem right!

On Friday evening I was channel flipping and stumbled on to the SBS sports report. After a lengthy soccer discussion they eventually got on to other sports and of course ended up talking Aussie rules. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard a guy with an American accent reporting on the Richmond/Collingwood game. Following that, he then gave his projection for the top 8 - which mind you was probably a fair thing with one or two exceptions - but then we get that any way!.

Did anyone else see it or has seen it before? I must say that I just couldnt take it seriously!

At the end of the report they then showed an American TV article trying to explain Aussie Rules- but it mainly focussed on the old type biffo that has been removed to a great degree from the game [some of the footage was pretty - 60's & 70's mainly and showed few highlights of what makes our game the greatest of them all.

Yeah I watch "World Sports" alot so I know who your talking about. That guy does an AFL report every week during the season. Actually he has done it since last year. They actually go into more detail than some commercial networks do in certain cases.

The reporter's name is Ed Wyatt, and I remember seeing him working for ESPN back in the States, back in the early days of that network, around the late 1970s-early '80s... damn, I'm sure dating myself here.

When I heard his voice on SBS when I came back here, I felt like I was in a time warp. Good commentator, though. Knows his stuff.
