But I wouldnt mind Shane 2000 at Geelong. If it is true that he will sign for base salary and match payment only then we should be able to squeeze him under the cap.

His roll, a few things, he has a good work ethic which is good for the kids. He has a coaching cert and it supposedly pretty well repected in this rolse. He prepares well too which would also be good for the new kids. He could play once, okay so I never thought he was Brownlow worthy but the bloke was a great reciever with a great kick. With ricco nearing the end Woey might be a replacement pinch hitter, he has great disposal (better than most) and can find the goals from range.

I dont really WANT him...BUT...at base payments it is very little risk. He has played 9 seasons and only missed a handleful of games during those years. You dont manage to do that without being able to play, simple as that. If he can get it back then great, if not then he is delisted. If we had another patch this year, god forbid, of injuries like last than he could become very handy. I would rate him above Koula and possibly a few others off the bat.

It's all academic Scotty - we don't have any picks in the PSD and he's too old to be a rookie.

Personally, I think he'd be a risk we don't need to take. I don't think he'd ever be the difference between winning a flag and not.

Scotty
We don't have a pick in the PSD and no frigging way would Geelong be stupid enough to go after him.He was a one year wonder.

We may as well have just kept Clarke or Spriggs.

nuff said really, my bad. If we did though he would be worth a look.

One year WONDER yes but anyone who plays 9 seasons is an okay player.

No offense dude but I disagree. I actually think there are a lot of pretty average players around, and it's very easy with the right image (and a stupid coach - Frawley, Rhode, Schwab for example) to get a lot of football under your belt.

My main argument against that little fairy Woewodin is what it represents. The core reason we were abysmal for so long was precisely because Ayres kept getting rejects from other clubs at the expense of developing young talent. Martin McKinnon, Scott Bamford, Brett Spinks, Simon Arnott, Jason Mooney come to mind immediately but I know there were plenty of others. Since Thompson has arrived and slowly starting phasing out the crap and finding talented kids the side has got stronger and stronger. Speaks volumes for introducing new blood instead of taking stupid gambles that mostly never pay off.

More precisely, Woewodin has now been cut by 2 clubs, one of whom in Collingwood finished what - 13th or 14th? And he's not considered good enough to get a game there, so what could he possibly do for us? Except make us weaker, slower, older and softer.

Exactly right. It wouldnt matter if you picked him up for a bargain he would instill a weak, soft attitude around the club which is not the sort of attitude you would like particularly around your young players.
I have always thought that since his brownlow win he has tried to milk as much money out of the clubs he has played for whilst putting in very little effort thinking that his brownlow was going to lead him to a long and fruitful career.
