I thought Kim was a Melbourne supporter???

Anyway, signs were promising, and although the Saints had some top players out (Koschitzke is always out), so did we. Bucks, Johnno, Rusling, Rocca, Didak etc. make a big difference. In fact, that was our best performance in a while without Rocca, who is normally our barometer.

Still, just a practice match.

St Kilda had Nick Riewoldt, Justin Koschitzke, Lenny Hayes, Matt Maguire, Max Hudghton, Leigh Montagna out and had Gwilt playin key back i wouldnt read to much into it but some good signs.

I would say that says more about stkildas lack of depth than anything. Riewoldt is good, but doesnt add much scoreboard pressure, that and if he had of been playing, id suggest that either maxwell would have been given a job on him (has done well in the past) or clement would have been given more game time. JK is average atm, out of form (from last year) and very injury prone, has tallant but so does tarrant and we all know where that argument leads. Hayes is good, gives the saints great drive out of the middle, but his absence is balanced by the absence of buckley. Maguire and Hudghton would of added some hieght in defence but from all reports i dont think either would have stopped Fraser, we also didnt have rocca or rusling playing. Montagna is awesome, im a huge fan and he'll have a great year. All in all, im not sure if the players you listed would make the 42 point difference considering we were missing names too.

Yes BFG has rose coloured glasses on, but you too are letting bias get in the way of judgement

being optimistic is ok but talk about jumping the gun.

I thinks its funny that carlton , nth and lions supporters are so excited but this is just ridiculous.

there is a long long long way to go

I have said this before and i'll say it again,if , the pies don't get injuries to key players the blend of youth and experience will see us top 4 this year. Then we may shake the foundations, with a full team that is.
I think the stkilda game was a good indication of how we will travel. We were still missing, buckley, didak, holland, rusling, rocca.
The saints will find it difficult this year, new coach, kossi's always injured, maguire is on one leg, hudgton is getting old and has trouble staying on the park, hammill is finished, hayes is coming off a serious injury.
Their backline will have serious issues,so i'm predicting they will slide in 2007.Armitage will be a player though.

good to be optimistic, but saints were missing a heap of proven players, not blokes like rusling who are yet to prove anything

we may do well, but dont read too much into the pre-season, is more about the young blokes pressing for a spot in the 22

so far in this regard looking good

with good signs from T.Cloke, Pendles, Medhurst, Nicholls, Iles, D1ck will be putting pressure on the fringe blokes during the season

team will change heaps when Buckley, Rocca, Clement, Didak come back....but so will the aints, so the result is not important

yeah if we went by everything that happened in the preseason, sydney and west coast should have been at the bottom of the table with geelong and carlton vying for the flag in 2005/6.....wait till the real season begins when there is more on the line the first month will be a better indication rather then a practice match or nab cup match

Thats the most positive thing. That and an improved performance from Bryan and Richards, allowing Fraser the freedom to play forward. Also better games from Lonie and Davis after shockers the week before.

Its all coming together ok at this stage of the season.

Yeah it was only a practise match, but I loved what I saw yesterday:thumbsu:

I have been adamant in threads suggesting the pies be a threat this year & have a genuine shot in 2007..

Fraser is ready to take the competition by storm & I am putting a small sum on him for Brownlow.

Cloke looked great at CHF & is going to be a GUN!

Medhurst looked like he will enjoy being at the pies, he will surprise this year.

Shaw, Maxwell, Pendles, Thomas, ********, Illes & Davis looked great too.

Add in Bucks, Johhno, Didak, Holland & Rocca we are in for A BIG YEAR!!!

:)
what a peanut
