I heard a suggestion the other day... macca and johncock both move forward to the forward flank/pocket positions. Edwards and Goodie take their places in the back line while Thommo, VB, Knights, Douglas and ?? spend their time in the middle. I wonder if it could work?

It'd make for a few bloody nervous coaches ;)

Interesting suggestion Jenny, although I like Johncock in defence, perhaps goody and johncock in defence Mcleod and Edwards up forward, would definitely get an extra year or so out of the fab 3, although all 4 would do a pretty good job anywhere, at least with johncock up forward we would have an accurate shot on goal. Funny how our best shots(Rutten, Stevens and Johncock) are in defence.

I'd be giving McLeod a try up forward with Goodwin taking his role on the HBF. I reckon Goody can do as well back there while also being able to participate in the hard-ball contest when required. McLeod up forward with a licence to roam anywhere in the front half would be dynamite with his 'ball reading' ability and pace. A win-win situation IF we can cover for Goodwins absence thru the middle. Generally i think we can, especially if Reilly is fit (my tip for gold jacket in 08). No problem mixing it up a bit and getting Goody in the middle for short periods when we need his experience.

I don't think Edwards can do the same job as Johncock back there, lacks the pace and is susceptible to getting caught in close...I'd be keeping him in his current role while spending some occassional time up forward to give McLeod the odd burst on the ball to keep him in the game and mix things up.

OK so I have had a weekend to contemplate the big picture and unfortunately it's all come out pear shaped, Poower made the GF much to my inlaws sheer delight and then I watched the SANFL and kept an eye on the Crows listed players. I was told earlier in the week and posted as much that the established players don't think there's too much to get excited about with the guys coming through and after the last two weeks I can see why. I was on the Bernie Vince wagon, I think it may be a fruitless ride, Douglas was Ok but not exciting, Gill predictably unpredictible, Hinge nothing, Mcintyre nothing, it could be a long few years team maybe a good time to develop an interest in the 36ers!!

The last 2 weeks, he's been outstanding. Drummond is probably his biggest critic around this joint, and even he's been on the Douglas bandwagon in the last two weeks.

Not sure what you're on about here.

Wouldn't bother.

douglas has SANFL standard written all over him imo. He's like a slightly better version of skippy.

Are you serious?

No, this a joke....... right?

Right???

Comparing him to Skipworth is an insult.

Douglas is an inside midfielder, forced to play a fair bit as an outside midfielder at AFL level, because at present he doesn't have the body strength.

Even playing in unfamilar positions/situations, he's been okay.

At SANFL level he's a dominant player. He was a pretty dominant player last year too. On a fair few occasions kicking 3-4 a game, along with 20 odd touches. This at 19/20 years of age for ****s sake.

When he plays on ball at SANFL level he's a clearance machine. Also a hard ball get machine.

This was also the case in the U/18 comps. Hell, in the prelim he racked up 10 clearances and 11 hard ball gets.

So he's an inside midfielder, capable of contributing heavily, both forward and back as an outside player.

Since when did Skipworth pile on 7 goals and 30 touches at the raw age of 20?

That comparison is insulting, and it's a joke :thumbsd:
