I read with amazement some of the comments, emanating from the Carlton Bigfooty board.

"Let's hope we don't win any more than 4 games", "We should try for picks 1 & 2". It's going to be a very long year for the Blues. Some are already looking towards the 2006 Draft in November!

A lot of Blues people have already written off their club, even before the first game.

A early win in the season will work wonders for the club.

Watching the Roys in every game in 96, was demoralising. Still you have to go & support your club, no matter what.

Things look bleak at present. At least your future is guaranteed despite big losses on & off the field.

Go & buy your membership tickets Blues. They really need your support now.

I agree.
The supporters who want us to finnish bottom should probably stay home on weekends. The outlook does not look to great at the moment but who knows a win against the Dees in round 1 could be the tonic that kicks starts our season. Playing for lottery picks is absolute utter crap, especially talking about in the first week of March.

Nobody should be talking draft picks ... nobody. The preseason has undoubtedly put a dent in our membership drive though and that is a valid reason for ire.

If thats what you think mate do a search for post by me AUDAS. You will find that there is no-one, not even PARROT who has more faith in the fact that carlton will win the flag this year and probably next. Im looking to start the re-build now, Im worried that things have already gone to our head.

There are a couple of pessimistic, handwringers around here but dont tar me with your maingy old brush (especially one from the lions.....oh god, am I really getting a pat on the back "chin up", "Things aren't that bad" from a Fitzroy supporter.......maybe they are that bad).

Cheers though mate and i definitely agree in theory.

Has the pre-season really put a dent in our membership drive? Who really puts anything on these games? I've been fairly realistic about our chances this year all along - I reckon we'll be lucky to win more than 4 games with the list we have, and just hope we stay competitive and get our young players some experience. With that in mind, it might be good to get a priority pick, but not at the expense of trying our very best every single week. All we can really do is watch each game with interest, hope for improvement and see how the cards fall at the end - if everything goes right we might even go like we did in 2004 and finish top 10. The time for thinking about draft picks should be November, not early March...

Even though I reckon we'll get flogged a few times this year, I'll still buy a membership, and go to as many games as I can. Nothing better than watching a young team develop, grow, and eventually win a premiership at some stage down the track, and those eventual wins will be all the sweeter for the crap we're seeing now. Carlton fans should jump on board, and prove that even when we're struggling on the field and in the boardroon we're still a powerhouse in the stands.

Loyal Lion (post above), nobody is better qualified to speak about supporting a club while it's down than the loyal Fitzroy fans of the 90s.

I have been a Carlton "barracker" all my life but have never bought a membership as I've only recently moved to Melbourne and haven't been able to afford one until now. But, before Round 1, I'll be paid up. A Silver 11 membership is only $155 and, with games this year set to cost $18.50, it would cost $203.50 without a membership - and you'd have to line up for a ticket!

Sounds like value to me ... and we all know the club needs it. I encourage other barrackers to become supporters, too.

I'm looking foward to watcihng the new kids in action for Carlton, however I'm not looking foward to all the inevitable trolling against the Blues at BF once the season starts proper.

Good thing BlueBoy. Be Proud, Passionate & Paid up!

If the Blues are anything like Fitzroy was, you may receive a few books of Raffle Tickets in the mail, to sell for the club.

That didn't worry though. I'd watch the Roys train at Albert Park most weeks, even in those real cold, bitter July nights! That's one thing I really miss about not having a club in Melbourne to support.

You got any links to support your claims? Because I can't remember any of the Carlton people on this board blatantly coming out and saying "Let's tank for picks", most have, however, realistically said that we will probably finish bottom 4 and that still they are hoping for the best possible finish but I don't remember anyone already has written us off, I certainly haven't.

P.S: That is except cypher of course ;) :D :p

I never wrote us off but I'm not going to be unrealistic about chances this year. I am looking forward to seeing our draft picks play and the younger players go around this year.

But which sides do you see finishing below us?

How many games do you think we can win this year?

Arfter 1 poor bloody practice match i cannot belive people are looking forward to the next draft.give the kids a break of course it will be a tough year . As a blue blood from birth .(61) i have been blessed to live through 8 blues flags.Lets stop this defeatist attitude from all of us supporters & members this is a stkilda culture we are breeding .lets give our young players the support to give them confidence to move our great club back to where it belongs . let us all be there in round 1 & wear our colors with pride & support the greatist club in the Afl .

Definetly not hoping for draft picks, though its not like we're gonna have a hell of lot of success. Still, I'd rather finish 11th and get 6-7th pick than last again and get the 1st.

It was a joke mate, hence the array of colourful emoticons, and was in reference to you wanting Thorpe, Hansen etc ;)

Relax :)

That's what I mentioned in my previous post too, that some supporters are realistic about our chances and there's nothing wrong with that, in fact I am one of them too. Mind says bottom 4, heart says top 8.

I know it was a joke, but I feel some Blues fans have the impression I want us to tank. ;)

I just don't think we need to. :(

I never read every post on a thread!

No Carlton fan wants to see us tank before round 1. :p
If they say otherwise, they're just pulling your leg.

Most would agree that 4 years in the doldrums is far too long. But for a 5th, that's just down-right unbearable. Unfortunately for us however, another poor year looms likely. :(

You see, there's a difference between accepting and succumbing.

I'll accept and succumb to my avatar, rather than just succumbing to Uma! :p

At least Kennedy is training without the red jumper according to reports. :)
