Old Fashioned Supporter in the thread about history has posted a URL that links to a website featuring statistics and records on every VFL / AFL game ever played 1897-2000.

I checked it out and its awesome. An absolute must have for all stats and history buffs, its just like "Every game ever played" except its online and so much easier to use. Just about the only thing it does not have is crowd figure. Oh yeah it dosn't have much in the way of individual player stats but all the records and stats on teams, grounds, streaks, games and ladders are all there.

I've got many footy books at home, but this site is awesome.

The only problem is I've found one little error. If you have a look at best ever season (including finals), Essndon 96% 24-1 season is not there.

And it's not like they havn't included the 2000 season, becasue Essendon 21-1 regular season is there, stated as the second best "regular" season in history (behind Collingwood's 18-0)

Crowds are the only thing it is missing.

In the "more" behinds than goals section, I found this score unusual in 1940 between Melbourne And North Melbourne.

Melbourne: 12.34.106
Nth.Melb : 8.1.49

Dan:
I noticed that they were missing Essendons winning percantage as well for an entire season.

It must have taken them months, years to do that, because there is not only every AFL stat in there, but Rugby League and Cricket aswell.

Brilliant site. Well designed. Could well be the cyber-bible of football.

Thanks for that, BSA ... oh, and I mustn't forget Old Fashioned Supporter.

Brisbane's stats are all wrong.

When Brisbane/Fitzroy merged in 96, the AFL closed all records for the Bears/Roys at the end of 1996 and decreed that the Brisbane Lions will start afresh as a new club.

Yes, it's a continual problem with the media and the general public. The Brisbane Lions began as a new club in 1997 and should be acknowledged as such. So strictly speaking Marcus Ashcroft has played for two clubs, and Alistair Lynch for three.

The Brisbane Lions themselves have taken a decision to include in their records, for all players who have played for the Brisbane Lions, since 1997, all their Fitzroy games and Brisbane Bears games as part of their records for the Brisbane Lions. So for example Martin Pike's first game for Brisbane next year will be his 37th for the Brisbane Lions (as he played 36 games for Fitzroy). According to the AFL however it will be his first game for his fourth club (Melbourne, Fitzroy, North Melbourne and Brisbane Lions)
