I wasn't "joking" pessimistic to try and prevent myself some pain, I genuinely thought we were no chance.

Nice to be wrong, which means I might be wrong about the Tigers missing the Grand Final.

Not sure if this would be the proper thread, but here's my view of the club's current situation:
The Cats have lots of players relatively new to the lineup, recruits/youngsters etc. They are still gelling. I have been watching games from 2004~2006 recently, maybe some here should (re)watch them. Interesting to see the core of the championship team coming together. I think there is a lot of talent now at the club, the difference is the confidence(in their teammates and themselves) to go hard every game is still being instilled. As a wise person has said, its mostly between the ears. Richmond, Adelaide, and especially Sydney have experienced cores. The challenge of the coaches and the playing group leader is to bring that team confidence together. Then we'll be a consistent finals winner. Last night was a big step.

Geelong by 10 goals!! (in my day dream)

Missed by a point. Dud. :p

Maybe last night will shut the Chris Scott haters and other naysayers up for a bit. Yes we were total shite last week, which is disappointing and understandably people want to vent, but gee some people lack perspective. Either side of the first final we've absolutely crushed the two Sydney sides, both amongst the top handful of teams in the comp.

Richmond played unbelievably well last Friday - I heard on the radio during the week that their pressure stats last week easily outstripped anything the Dogs did in last year's finals series, and if the Dogs won the flag off the back of manic pressure then what does that say about Richmond last week? And still we went with them for three quarters, after a week off which we all know usually kills us. In the end it was pretty ugly, sure, but given our form either side of that game and that fact that if we make the GF it will be with the conditioning of three straight, hard weeks of finals footy, I'll back us to beat Richmond if we get the chance to play them again.

And for the coach bashers, last night showed why he is rated by the other coaches as the equal toughest to coach against in the AFL. To get the players up like that after what happened last week is impressive enough, but to also have the cojones to play Danger deep forward for the entire first half and back in the rest of the midfield to produce, play Blicavs on Kennedy, play Taylor on Buddy after Lonergan pulled out allowing Henderson to sweep ... as pretty much every media commentator has said since the game, it was a coaching masterclass. You got to give him credit too for the way he handled the Menzel thing - he took full responsibility for it, admitted it was a mistake and changed it this week. Well done I say.

I've met him twice. Of course I've no idea but he came across as very astute and definitely not c@$@.

I've always loved both of them- Garry and Steve. Why did they have that big falling out again...?
