Calm down everybody ,grab a cup of tea take a deep breath and think about it ,were 4 points behind Collingwood and 4 points out of the eight with Des,Black , Mayne ,Taz and the rest of the youngsters pushing up for a place in the side.Farmer,Johnson, Sandi, are starting to run into form so lets not chuck in the towel just yet,18 rounds to go ,we need 9 more wins approx to make it to the eight and a couple more for the six .We can and should still do it.

Agree it's not over but it's getting there. Even if we lose to Geelong we could still make it but we'd have to really 'gel' and not just scrape goals together like we have been doing whilst leaking them at the other end due to crap disposals.

We showed a bit in the 2nd half but that 'bit' will not be good enough to beat most sides these days. We need to keep improving and the only way to do that consistently IMO is to get rid of guys who consistently butcher the ball, i.e. Matt Carr, Macca and Schammer and drop guys who aren't contributing i.e. Josh Carr (15 disposals in 2 games!) and blood the new kids.

Obviously you can keep a Josh Carr or a Macca as support for a while but slowly get rid of them if Josh doesn't turn it around. Macca won't turn his bad disposal around but at least works hard around the ground. IMO the only option for Josh moving forward is to return to a tagging role.

Des, Mayne, Taz, Brock, Warnock, Browne would be a chance to come into the side next week, altho not all at once obviously.

Our premiership window is closed for now fellas no way with this current team are we as good as geelong and hawthorn. The good news is we have some good youngsters and we have GREAT key posi players in Pav and Elvis to build around both only 26.

This years draft is gonna have some good wa boys natinui, rich and yarren if we have a top 5 pick we will snap one of them up.

I'm very happy with ibbo, mayne, palmer, hinkley, drum, foster and brock.
they all have good pace and POISE. (just need to pump 50 games into them)

Just look at Collingwood,Port and Hawthorn it only takes 2-3 years to build a qaulity side and we already have a lot of peices. so if we end up down the ladder this year dont be disharten.

of course it's not over!
Forget about our ranking. Who gives a shit at the moment. Just focus on our play and try to improve each weak. Develop our rookies and see where we end up. Can't believe people say it's over after round five.
Who knows we might achieve ten wins in a row, and finish comfortably in the top 8.
But like I said, focus on our play, improving each week, and the results will come.

The only chance we have is to keep introducing the kids like Collingwood did last year and play a few senior players in different roles.

Crowley is steadily improving as our run-with player.

Josh Carr needs to become our 2nd tagger coz he's finished as a playmaker.

Bring on Brock, Foster (when he's ready), give Browne a shot to see if he can actually keep his hamstrings intact and we'll see where we're at.

I hate to say it, but i think it may be over guys.

Harves said that he was going to clean up the squad and i think he'll do that at the end of this year and draft players that will suit his style of play. It seems pretty obvious that the players he has at his disposal right now can't do the job. Most of the current squad were drafted or traded for to fulfill connoly's style and we all know what happened to him... Belly, Macca, Thornton, etc etc have to go by the end of this year and the likes of Drummy, Ibbo, Foster, Palmer, O'brien, Hinkley and Murphy have to be persevered with this season and we'll see the fruits of this next year. I actually don't mind if we have another bad year this year as long as we get back on trac next year. Who knows, we might pick up Nantui or Rich and then we'll have a really decent squad.

And we only have to beat the best side of the last 4 years at a ground where we have lost to them by consecutive 11 goal margins.

Too easy mate.

I think Browney's hamstrings have already failed on him this year :( Not sure how long he's out this time, but he's usually a minimum of 4 weeks.

If and when its over, we dont want to play the youngsters for the sake of them being youngsters.

Harvs needs to know who in the squad young and old who cannot help take the club to the cup.

We therefore need to play the squad and work it over to find who to keep and who to ditch. We play who deserves it.

As much as I think we are playing well below potential.... There is really no way in hell us at our best could beat Geelong or Hawthorn unless they had shockers.

This pains me at night, but unless we get really lucky against the top tier teams in a 'final' match if we even made the finals, then this season is null and void. Though it fills me with delight that we can be competitive with the younger brigade this season, it's all about what we can do with them in the side this season as far as I am concerned... they are the future and it looks relatively bright.

Mayne
Hinkley
Ibbotson

well we still have 2 rookies we can elevate.
There's always Mourish ( I don't know if he's ready )
That young ruck/forward we got named Connelly (at Joondallup??) and isn't the kid from Swan Districts Pratt one of ours as well...
Any of these kids in good form?
Josh Head is playing well in WAFL

Absolutely stoked with the endeavour shown by the first four on that list. They have big futures and will make the bigger names realise they're not safe.

Foster, Drum and O'Brien can only get better.

I thought Brock had a ripper game in that last round last year and you could see he was auditioning for a permanent place in the team.

I'm loving the optimism here but lets seriously be honest. 1-5 by Saturday morning doesn't equal a team who can play finals football.

The increasingly sad realisation i'm coming to is that we're just not good enough.

Indeed, it's up to the team to convince the fans now they are good enough. Which is related to the problem of the Richmond match, I think in a two team town when the media needs a story every day, players get hyped and fans get excited.

Leading up to that match the players would have read and heard every tip 'Fremantle by 10 goals' and subconciously taken in a mind set of 'Walk in the park, we can play below our best and still win.' I think the players themselves viewed themselves as a top 4 team, when in reality we are just a top 8 team. So when you play with an 'average' mentallity when in fact you are an 'average' team, it makes us a very bad team.

I feel that somewhat explains the loss to Richmond as well as the spikes against West Coast, because we are required to play above and beyond.

I think Browney's hamstrings have already failed on him this year :( Not sure how long he's out this time, but he's usually a minimum of 4 weeks.

 - he's done another hammy? Just goes to show we need to be more ruthless. We held onto Haddrill for 4 years and didn't recruit a fullback to replace him (if Grover gets injured we're screwed).
As much as I love Webster he's now having his 4th knee reco and we've held onto him.
We've held onto Ryley Dunn for years and he can't walk around his house without injuring himself.
And then there's Browney who breaks down as soon as someone mentions his name as a likely inclusion.
You could almost add Longmuir to that list - other teams may have traded him to another club whilst he could still run.

Our future looks bright:

Palmer, Mayne, Ibbo, Hinkley, Foster, Brock, Head.

We just need to get 50 games into them and top up the list at the end of the year.

Whilst I agree on Geelong, if we were at our best in Round 2 we would have comfortably won against the Hawks.

Theres an old cliche that goes something like "you are only one win from turning your season around". We are playing like goats at the moment and will get a lot better. As long as they persevere with the youngins and give some of the seniors a kick in the bum regaularly things will improve.

I still think murphy is wasted.
