I don't think Carey is a shit bloke, although he's done his fair share of shitty things. He had his demons, issues, whatever you want to call them and I think he's probably worked through them now for the most part. His autobiography (if that's what you call a first person narrative written by somebody else) reads like it was mostly worked out in some counselling sessions at a rehab centre.

I'm genuinely glad that he seems to have his life back on track, but I reckon he still has a massive chip on his shoulder when it comes to the North Melbourne football club, sorry I mean kangaroos. Maybe it's just some sort of awkwardness about a club where he was undoubtedly the king until he so unceremoniously ****** everything up. Maybe he's resentful because we can never idolise him the way the *bombres do Jimmah, who barely held a candle to him as a player.

Whatever it may be, we are ******* delusional if we think Duck is our great white hope, or that we just need to somehow reconcile with him and the future will open up for us. He is unproven as a coach beyond a couple of "mentoring" jobs. He is generally good in his analysis in the media, except when it comes to us where his irrational blind spot comes in to play, but he'd need to show a heck of a lot more before I'd be clamouring to have him back at the club.

I dont for one minute think hes our white hope, but I cant see why NM cant bury this issue for once & all.

If he can teach our guys something, anything that would surely help, if he cant then so be it.

God there are some absolute w******* on this board, if you dont want to read the thread then why waste your time degrading it, just don't comment flogs.

In regards to the topic, there is no question that Majak needs some one on one time with not just Duck, but a number of great power forwards, he really needs any help he can get as far as I'm concerned, and it would be great if the greatest player I've ever seen, as well as the best player to ever play for NMFC could help him out.

If your care factor is zero then sod off, and stop turning this board into high school spew.

Someone can't have a conversation without turning to insults. More your problem than mine, fella.

My care factor was about the article and the hub bub about it. The topic is a different matter which has delved into more than just that. Don't blow a gasket or your life will be a short as the WWE career of your namesake.

Wayne Carey is one of the best two players ever. However, I'm not sure that he could teach anyone anything about forward play.

Maj, just fly headlong into this pack, take a chest mark and goal from 40m. Maj, when you're tired, just run full speed on legs of lead with a torn calf muscle to the next contest, take a pack mark and kick a goal from 55m. Maj, charge into the oncoming pack without a thought for your own safety, grab the footy and dish off a handball to someone running past you towards goal. Maj, just outplay 3 opponents who are scragging you and make them look like fools.

OK, that's enough for today, Maj. See you next week. We'll cover left foot banana goals from the boundary line, acting as a decoy or human shield for Drew or Blackie, kicking a goal from 50 after gathering on the wing and having 3 bounces and marking 60 out and hitting Boomer on the chest 20 out.

I think the point is, Carey won't bury it (not the other way around).

I've been more disappointed in him the last two years than in the previous decade. Perhaps he is waiting to be begged back into the club, which won't happen, whereas he could quietly work on an increasing presence and I'm sure that would be welcomed, but as CharlieMortdecai eloquently nailed it "I reckon he still has a massive chip on his shoulder when it comes to the North Melbourne football club, sorry I mean kangaroos."

Posters like you attempting to glorify themselves by putting down others is just pathetic. Bullied at school, relationship issues or lack there of, I don't care, but if you you cannot offer anything to this thread besides putting others down in a desperate attempt to make yourself feel better, then just don't comment on it, very simple.

mate some people just have it, some don't. Carey is a rare case of talent and work ethic. some things cannot be tough....
sure he can teach some body positioning and basics, but you cant get blood out of a stone....

sounds good to me when do we start?
Darren Crocker can probably teach the body positioning and basics just as well. He was bloody good player, has a lot of coaching experience and spent several years in the same forward line as the King, Horse and Corza.

The King we all loved sort of died in about 2002 (or whenever it was). Nothing will ever bring that King back to us. Sadly.

Some of you blokes either werent around in the 90's or you have very short memories. for almost 10 years Carey was the heart & soul of NM, the AFL'S first million dollar man & pin up boy, oh & as well he could play a bit too. Sure there were other good players but he was the man. You are in denial if you think otherwise.

Destroyed so many opposition teams , not once but time & time again. Busted packs, kicked monster goals & could take a grab too. Made ordinary teammates look good.

Sure he left disgraced & I was dissapointed as the next bloke. Carey didnt do anything that hasnt been done before & wont be done again. Unfortunately he got caught, silly Wayne was thinking with his di**, but what guy hasnt at some time. Sad but thats the way it is.

Anyway I dont care, I remember Carey for all the good things he did, not the bad. IMO while Carey remains estranged from the club we can never move on, & we need all the help we can get to overcome this inconsistency that we have.

Valian no one for a moment is understating Wayne's contribution to our Club. He carried us forward, kept the wolves from the door.

He put the A in Alpha male, he was Robin Hood. He was Industructo man. He ran into cars on the tele.

And again for all that we're just a little chapter in his life, he's moved on. I call bullshit.

He also put the A in arrogance, was warned for indifferent behaviour a fair few times and he finally crossed the uncrossable line.

He won't be back.

Sort of my sentiments. We can look back on his playing days as fondly as we like. Absolutely no arguments from me there.

But he burned the bridges on his own. He left for a reason and he was half of the guilty party. Nowadays he's either neutral or something unpleasant. I don't think we'll see him in a helpful capacity at Arden Street but I'm happy when I'm proven wrong.

Before someone jumps on me again this is different from Carey helping some opposition player I only care about if (positively) he's winning me SC points or (negatively) kicking goals against us.

err are you saying the current forwards coaches are doing any better then? Another bloke with his head in the sand, & we havent won a flag since when?? 99 is my recollection.
No I just couldn't give a flying **** what some journo deems as 'news' when it comes to a cafe, a laptop, a damaged superstar and an over rated crab from *bummerland

Big maj needs to impose himself and stuff the consequences, take em all on, play with a sense of urgency.....bit of a chat and wrestle with bazza would do him good. Maybe a bit of pre match sparing with Daniel Pratt might fire him up as well.

Good post Valian , but I don't agreed he's estranged from the club. We've had all the HOF stuff etc etc, IMO he's been welcomed back. Or do you think he literally isn't welcome at the club by the current admin and football dept?
I loved the Duck as much as anyone, he was a dickhead, but he was "our" dickhead who just so happened to be the greatest player of all time. Even after the Kelli Stevens stuff, I still remained steadfast in my love and admiration, just completely gutted it had happened. But I reckon he kicks us a bit when he can, not hard, but just enough to show he's still bigger than us or something. It's like we let him down, not the other way round.
