Certainly not 'back' but we are showing we are getting there and this was one massive step. To come out against the seasons best team, on the MCG, in front of possibly the most daunting of supporter groups and come so very close... Shows us this season hasnt been a fluke and lucky draw... Future is looking good again for the eagles.

Pretty happy with how the team's come up this year.

But the boys were playing against 2 teams today - the ones in black and white stripes, and the ones in green...

Thats bullshit mate the umpires ( who were in red ) were OK today. That was one of the better performances from the umpires this year. They let the game flow, they were consistent and had zero influence on the result.

Back on topic. Yes I was very proud of the effort and we are back in the race....... the next few years are staring to look very promising.

Sure we had a few brain farts today but the fact that we made a come back in the last quarter speaks volume for the character of our list. :thumbsu:

I think we're clearly the 3rd best side in the comp behind the Pies and the Cats. Also I think next year we will be playing in the big one and anything can happen then.

Still have a few passengers who cannot, and will not, perform when we are really in a game that matters.

Assume you are referring to Masten and Waters. Could not agree more. Despite two reasonably good games from Masten and total courage from Waters, both give me palpitations when they dispose of the ball. WCE's two biggest "first 22" duds.

Lecras is a janitor that cleans up only when we're on top. Such a talented footballer but no big game ability what so ever.

So proud of the boys. So proud.

Commentators should struggle to sleep at night.

Umpiring was pretty good for once.

Bring on any club, in any stadium now. That was pure experience.

I'd still take the Hawks (with Buddy or Roughy). I'm happy to put us 4th.

Just briefly sticking my nose in to say a big "Respect" to your fellas today. They showed that they are undoubtedly a Top 4 club in 2011, and deserve to be where they are. Have no doubt they'll be back at the G in 2 weeks time to face the Cats in a prelim. Might not make it past there, but really - what a season so far! Cheers. :)

thanks mate! yer thought it was a great effort by the boys today.

did we make too many mistakes in the 2nd and 3rd? Yes! But all the boys will be better for the experience of having played in a final now and should be raring to go next week!

If we can get a win next week then were in a prelim and anything is possible if we bring the intensity we had today!!!

Well done Eagles, great effort today!

We are certainly not 'back' on today's efforts.

Today proved that we learned absolutely nothing from the last time we played Collingwood. We continually bombed the ball long inside 50 with no purpose or structure.

Shaw, Davis & O'Brien had 93 disposals between them. Nicoski, Ebert & LeCras had 37.

Our intensity was great in the first quarter and we showed character to fight back in the last, but we went missing in the hour of football in between.

FYI, Priddis, Lynch, Waters, A Selwood, Butler, Hurn, LeCras, Embley, Cox, Glass & Nicoski all have previous finals experience. Glass & Hurn can hold their heads high and Lynch had a go, but the others were pretty disappointing.

turn it up mate. its finals footy and we have reduced the deficit between the teams by 5 goals. dont forget wer we have come from - despite our need to improve - I saw a lot encouraging signs for the future from this game.

The fightback in the last quarter was great. What we lacked in decision making and composure we certainly made up for in tenacity. Make no mistake. All the Pies supporters sitting around me were stunned and worried for a few minutes.

I totes agree with you champ. It was EXACTLY what happened the LAST time we played them. Yeah, we didn't lose by as much, probably down to the fact they were missing a $hitload of players, but it was still the same style of footy from us.

I'm sitting there watching it, thinking "seriously... is worsefold going to do a single thing about davis or harry obrien? Like Ever?" Same story different day. Kept kicking it in there direction and they hurt us on the counter attack. LIKE LAST TIME!!!

Same with the ruck dual thing, we should really stop hyping that sucker up until we prove that it is a telling statistic against teams that matter, like collingwood.

We didn't learn a thing, i don't think we're back, we played horrible....

But i wasn't surprised, and i know that we can play better if we try

i cant belive some of you blokes:confused:
Was at the game and the pressure was on from the get go, swan and pendles have had 80 touches between them and we r 7 odd points down 5 minutes to go with scooter and shoe missing set shots they normally would kick.
Pies fans were absoultly crapping themselves, they were continually getting numbers behind the ball so unless we had a clean break from a stoppage rarely was it one on one.
A few times when instead of bombing the ball long where we tried to control the ball we got tackled or just pressured off the ball, the heat was right on most of the time, same goes for the pies, any rushed kick forward our boys mopped up time again.
We ran the best team in the league to the wire and plenty of improvement from us to come.
Pretty happy ATM, but we have to win next week or its all for naught!

You going to put crap on Woosh after a 17-5 season? We stopped Cloke and Dawes (2 goals between them?) that's far more important than Harry O and Davis, as they are defenders tasked with stopping our players.
It was Lecca's (our B&F last year) job against Harry O and he got beaten.

Everyone would have agreed that going long into the 50, as Geelong did last week, with Pies missing their CHB was the best plan, players just didn't pick the right options all of the time. When we chose the right option it worked (see the last quarter).

As for the ruck, NicNat will be known as "Mr September" withing 3 years.

One thing that we didnt learn and needs to be worked on was the bombing inside 50.

Hold onto the footy, control the tempo and wait for the best presented option. Too many times Collingwood just ran the ball from our back half with inefficent use inside 50

Was really pleased with the fight that the boys showed but. Especially in the last with arguably our most valuable player on the pine. There wasnt a third quarter fade out either
