you tell me with a straight face that McMahon for 19 is a good deal - and i'll call you a good liar.

he ain't

we did not need a player of his type as it were - and we definitely didn't need one so bad that we should have given up a top 20 selection - it was a stupid trade.

and a Million Dollars for 3 year? FFS!
That could hurt when it comes to convincing Brennan in the PSD as we may not have the extra cash to throw at him

we are overpaying in every aspect in that trade

i would have rathered Jude Bolton - a premeirship player - tough, and still with 5-6 years left in him than another outside running flanker - at least he would set the example for the up and comers onto how to win your own ball.

morton deal = good
kmcmahon deal = crap - the worst of trade week

its a good deal

mcmahon is young just entering his peak and will give us more than a pick 19 draftee would give us for the first 2 years and maybe always. Port were hot to trot for him, are you going to suggest they have nfi about talent and the type of players they feel will help the club?

We should also be a little bit modest and remember where we got that extra pick from. It is a concession pick. It is not really ours and we have no 'normal' right to it.

In effect the AFL has given us McMahon for free. Beat our chests and stamp our feet all we like but we have a 100 game ready to go player and still have the two top-20 picks we should have had.

Hard to complaign about this trade period.

How old are you??

You obviously haven't watched a lot of footy or taken an interest in draft outcomes since 1988.

This was a terrific result in what is (according to the experts) a very shallow draft.

Congratulations RFC :thumbsu:

well said...

all we need to do now is cotchin at #2 and KPP at #18, 51, PSD

How much of this Mitch Morton have you seen?

There is a reason he was let go by West Coast, perhaps the most "outside" young player on their list.
i will admit only once or twice but he wasnt that outside then but im sure i will see him consitently enough next year to make a better judgement

I think we have done alright this far! (it will all be thrown away if we dont get cotchin at #2).
I like the signing of McMahon, even though he may be soft, he will provide excellent skills with the footy. How many times during the year did supporters get frustrated with turnovers or sloppy delivery!!! (and how many times did Richo get frustrated with shit delivery;)) We already have enough hard players in foley, tuck, coughlan, newman, king, JACKSON etc. what we really need is some skill to hit targets and this kid is young so still has his best footy ahead of him.
Dont know much about Morton so cant comment but believe he is probably better than who will be selected at #35 and he is ready to go without as much development and again is young..
Wood woulda been nice, as we still need another ruckman and i cant understand the lack of interest in Caroll from Melb??? think he woulda helped take a Key forward and released joel and polak...
We coulda also got rid of a few travellers, such as kracker etc
But all in all i'm pretty happy this far.
I think that Greg Miller's future and reputation (if he has one) will depend on if he gets cotchin at #2 and who is picked upin PSD, Definate need for stronger back and/or ruckman(if available):thumbsu:

Exactly what I said before, seems that people are just fixated on us having had 3 top 20 picks and then using one to snare a player is poor form.

I just wonder if they would have been complaining as much of it was given away in a deal that would have landed Judd?

i'm not fixated on having 3 picks in the top 20 - its trading one away for a guy who is just ANOTHER of a PLETHORA of outside, soft, running players - we barely need any more of them

and whoever says this guy has "Excellent" skills haven't watched him play - you hated fiora, and this guy is in exactly the same mould - an guy who is a brilliant kick when he is running on his own - with a heap of space around him - but as soon as there is the slightest bit of pressure - he will turn it over cheaply - kicks will miss targets - another like so many we have and had on our list - thing fella is a "weak link" - teams which thrive on man on man pressure (like hawthorn, collingwood, sydney, west coast ) target this bloke because he has always shown he can't handle the pressure - and if you don;t give him space - he will create turnovers

and as we saw this year - turnovers create goals the other way :(

he isn't the type of guy we needed - we needed a running back flanker which has poise underpressure and the body to not be bullied or intimidated by the tougher teams

fella's along with JON, Raines, P.Bowden, moore, howat, white, tivendale and tambo - being our run out of defensive 50 - the last thing we needed was Jordan McMahon - we needed another Dean Polo or daniel Connors -

tough enough and sure enough

good luck to Jordi - i can't change it - but i'm just still struggling to understand what exactly we saw in him which warranted giving up a pretty generous pick and wage to him?

Ever heard of the TPP AT?Thats part of the reason he,s getting paid that much which mind you 330K per year isnt like we are paying over the odds for these days.
Sure he,s not a inside player but please dont let a little fact get in the way of your hissy fit that he,s an exceptional kick even on the run .It will make a huge difference to him that when he,s running towards our fwd line he can actually see a target instead of what he,s been use too at his former club.

Huge rumour, McMahon has found the key to the closet door, can anybody confirm or deny ??
