Actually, we did request it. It was on the EFC website a while ago. Whether we actually get it or not depends on how benevolent the commission is feeling the day they do the fixtures, though.

It makes sense. Cant have Collingwood due to Anzac Day
Cant have Carlton due to them playing Richmond, cant have RIchmond for that reason and Dreamtime
Norf Dogs and Saints all draw smaller crowds
Leaves Hawthorn, Geelong or Melbourne

I'd say we have a better chance of beating Melbourne than the other 2 and the club would love to open the season with a win, and Melbourne are up and about a bit more than usual so would draw a reasonable crowd

We play Geelong for the country game, so that's probably out as well. From memory I think it was out of Hawthorn and Melbourne, and what you're saying seems to confirm that.

Well if the club wants to start the season with a march then it needs to be a Saturday night game - Friday night game will mean a lower attendance at the march.

I agree it could be a Saturday afternoon game - Merely pointing out that you will have less people marching on a Friday night because of work/school etc

Melbourne is a logical option.

They gave us that memorable win this year that silenced the critics. It can very easily draw 70k-75k+.

With Melbourne and Essendon in a similar stage of rebuild, I can see us re-introducing our old rivalry with them in the next few years.

I get the feeling my commitment to the footy will be forever diminished though. I love spending time getting fit, upskilling with online courses and smoking pot now. It's hard to fit full time work and single parenting in that as well.

Having said that, both finals so far this year have displayed three distinct styles of footy from Hawks, Dogs and Cats that I love to watch.

**** I wish I was another middle class w***er with MCC membership, a nanny for the kids, PA at work, a personal trainer, house cleaner and a gardener.
