A messageboard I post on relevant to the Stephen Donaldson novels has started advertising Thomas Covenant catchphrase tee shirts.

Absolute corker in-jokes like "100% Unbeliever", "Do you rave" and "We suffice".

I s'pose no-one will see them as clever unless they're fans of the books ... sort of like Trekkies with production values ... but I had to tell yers anyway.

The shirts are available at http://kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/cafeshop.php

Yep - the title of the thread is spot on.

Who the hell is Thomas Covenant?:)

Thomas Covenant is the main character in the fantasy serie "The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever" and its follow-up "The Second Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant".

Great fantasy. Certainly lacking a little originality in the face of Tolkien, but what on earth did Tolkien LEAVE for any other author to use?

Anyways, "do you think I like being this dangerous?"

When you read the books, you get the &#115hits a little bit with Covenant. But it wasn't until much later that I discovered that many people hated the books because of this.

It's been a while, I might just drag em out again. All 3000 pages.

3000 pages or 3000 books?

I must say I didn't like them at all.

They're definitely very heavy going ... I recently finished them for the 3rd time ... and they've lost none of their stench and sting.

Mobs

Got the first book a couple of times but just can't seem to get into them.

Prefer to stick with Tolkein, Feist and Weis and Hickman, with a little Eddings on the side.

Yeah we all have different favourites! Tolkien and Donaldson for me.

Started Lord Foul's Bane but gave up in disgust about 100 pages in. Not a lot of incentive in them for me - totally unlikeable character.

Exactly what drew me in!

Can't stand sci-fi or any of that futuristic stuff.
