I can't believe Tanner isn't even on the radar. Surely they should be giving every oportunity to our KPP to see if they can cut it.

Watch about the 8th minute mark in Ross' presser and he said not once has the team selection team said to him that Tanner Smith is on the radar to get a game. So he is probably still a while off

I reckon they've done it well.
Instead of just promoting the guy for the sake of a long term injury, they've waited and seen his form.

Now they've placed a player on the long term injury list, they've likely said to the rookies (not just Tanner, though he's prob 1st in line ) "there's the spot, now show us you deserve it".

I'll be watching the Peel result closely. Tanner should be playing as if his life depended on it this week. 4 or more goals will get him close next week

He's only just switched to being forward at the start of this season. They have said he's not ready yet. He just needs to show some continual improvement in WAFL and he could get an upgrade this season. If that happens I doubt they'll delist him. Tomorrow will be a good test for our three young tall forwards. Have a feeling the intention is to wait until Apeness is ready rather than switch in Tanner only to switch him out a couple of weeks later.

I get the impression from the interviews with Ross that as soon as Apeness is firing into the AFL he comes, but after 4 years of development and with no other key position players available for this game the development coach and Ross don't reckon Tanner is ready (code for delist at end of year).

I just got a hint of that flowing through the ranks. Look our big players have gotten big $$$ contracts, Walters, Fyfe, Mundy and Sandi. and recently Bennell. The Vet rules are more restrictive now or less overall.... Maybe to land the free agent, Pav was to retire.. but didn't formulate..
Look I got a sense of the cap being close for the last couple of years.. MAYBE that's the reason we couldn't get a top free agent..
But then again McPharlin retired so you are probably right

Yes I was also surprised that Ross was so open to say that the advice he was receiving was that Tanner is not ready. Tanner has being playing significantly better but Apeness is clearly the next key position coming into the team and unfortunately there is no position available for Tanner which leaves little chance come season end.

Well iur head of development doesn't seem to do fk all developing so I'd say his opinion isn't ironclad.
