Did you read the recent article on Taberner on the Freo website?

..........
“For me it’s about bringing great effort every week and impacting the games not just through the aerial contests,” Taberner said.

“Especially defensively and finding ways to lay more tackles, which is important.”
..........

Our biggest problem in out team is our lack of goal scorers and all our kids still seemed more preoccupied with tackling. Would love one of our kids to come out and say I'm going to win the Coleman medal this year. Pressure is important but a forwards primary focus should always be kicking goals.

100% agree with you! I love our forward tackling pressure but it in no way wins matches ahead of actual goals or scoreboard pressure.

I think if he is going to get a game it may be next week in Tasmania against the Hawks as it is likely that we will rest Pav for that game.

If Fremantle play Tanner in the forward line be prepared for a lot of tears to be flowing and a lot of hair floating to the ground . Tanner goes missing for large periods in games . He doesn't read the ball in the air and the coaches at every break in the Peel games get stuck into him about his positioning on the ground . When he gets it right he can have an impact BUT his decision making with ball in hand is very poor . GOOD LUCK . Shaw from GWS and Gibson from Hawthorn would have a field day playing on him .

Based on numbers last 2 weeks seems to be improving?

Why would we be resting Pav, what games are we saving him for, he'll be a long time retired after this year I don't see the point.
he still has to be managed or else he wont make it to the end of the season, hence won't make it to 350 games.

Are you suggesting that Tanner can compete and beat these guys . Tanner is not a first choice best 22 player ,he is only playing for Peel in the forward line because Sean Hurley is injured and Collins is playing his role down back.

You missed the last couple of Peel games Coulda ? 25 possessions and 12 twelve marks as a KPF is hardly going missing.

Collins is not a forward by his own admission.Has played 99% back. Hurley was also playing down back when fit.

I call BS. Hurley and Collins play in the back line. Smith's games up forward look a lot better than Tabs' games do in the WAFL...

Salim please My post was about Smith trying to compete as a forward against Shaw from GWS and Gibson from Hawthorn which are the next 2 games Fremantle will be playing.
Smith's former position in the Peel line up was in the back line .That position is now filled by Collins .
The position in the forward line that Smith is playing in now was formerly the position Hurley was playing .Hurly was used in the backline but was better up forward .
Hurly is injured . My point was that if Hurley wasn't injured he would be the Clubs first choice to come into the best 22 . My reasoning is as follows .Hurly is a running machine , strong in the contest and a penetrating kick . My belief is that once he is fit to play and he gets some match fitness he will play in the best 22 replacing Mayne .
As a side point Crozier should replace Balantyne in the forward pocket . Crozier is quick and a very good overhead mark .He reads the play very well and is a very good kick for goal.

I like Hurley but Hurley played back the majority of his games and 12 marks in a game by him would have been a miracle. Shaw and Gibson will be a tough match up for anyone on our list. Crozier has been tried every where including forward pocket. If you count one overhead mark this season I suppose that makes him a good overhead mark. Smith has shown a lot more than Hurley has so far into Hurley's career. Smith would be chosen before Hurley .

Why would a tall KPF being playing on Shaw? We would man up Ballantyne, Mayne or Crozier etc to go to Shaw regardless of what Shaw wants to do. Shaw would run off Pavlich as well. Your reaching to prove a baseless point..

Surely this week is the week. Mora unfortunately injured, heading to Tassie. Give the veterans the week off and keep Dawson down back instead of chopping out in the ruck.

I managed to get to only three per season training sessions this year, however I could not believe how much better Smith looked forward in the match simulations .

The legend of Gavin tanner is on abc tonight at 9pm.
A cone pulling, drug dealing, scozza Eagles supporter comedy show - made by a Freo fella if my memory serves me right.
Couple of belly laughs on offer if you prefer the lighter side of life...

TV Tanner holds his own better than anyone.
Ross has made it clear in his presser that Tanner Smith is not about to be upgraded.
