Call me senile, but that horrible grey thing was the reason for our poor performance last night. Burn the lot of them!

I played in a different coloured clash jumper a few times, and never won a game. They are like kryptonite.

i swear there has been a history of this kinda stuff. I remember once a European soccer team changed their kit for the first time in years and all of a sudden had a bad patch of form. Lets just say they never wore that kit again.

I wouldn't blame the Jumper. But it did look bad. I remember reading once that there is a reason why teams all over the world don't wear grey. Its because it clashes with the background too much. And I must say, being on the bottom deck, it did look harder than normal to make out the players.

I don't mind wearing a clash jumper if that's the leagues policy but:

1, whilst I thought it looked ok on the promo pictures, for some reason the grey was far more difficult to distinguish between teams than I can ever remember. I'm assuming it could have had something to do with St Kilda - Black & white (combined is grey) and red. Don't know how everyone else went with it but was a real struggle for the first time in years for me.

2, How the **** is it that Essendon are the last team to be compliant with a clash jumper? Are they taking the piss that Collingwood and north can change their stripe positions and that be considered compliant?

Sydney swans? Geelong?

Clash was worse... i was drunk but both teams had white numbers... no team had white shorts.. it was harder to distinguish between the two.

Jettas long sleeves made him look like he was wearing a wet suit. He must have predicted the Stkilda flood.

Because white, funnily enough, fits in with their clash policy. The difference between Collingwood's home and clash strips is dramatic.

It all comes back to the fact that there's this idiotic idea that a predominantly red jumper will not provide a clash. I am a strong advocate for not just a fat sash but a morbidly obese sash with a little bit of black on the right shoulder and the left hip, with black, white outline numbers on the back and red shorts. That would clash with no one but GC, which we would just wear our home strip against.

The EFC need to present something like this to the AFL, tell them they're morons and normal, red and black programming can resume.

It's a terrible clash guernsy. Our normal jumper with white shorts would've provided less of a clash and it's worked alright for the previous... what... 150 - 200 times we've played the Saints.

Is it a clash jumper or a clash strip that is required?

Call me a moron but why can't we just wear our normal jumper with the red shorts? Those red shorts are the biggest differentiator for me, when worn with the fat sash jumper it is still the red shorts that stand out the most. I actually didn't mind them, and our traditional jumper can still be worn.

Short of that, red shorts and the morbidly obese red sash as indicated by LN will do. This grey caused more confusion than it was worth.

It has been said before, but I'll repeat it for all those proposing various forms of clash strips with more red (eg fat sash, red shorts, red jumper with black stripe).
These are all sensible alternatives and much, much better than the grey.

BUT....the AFL and TV stations have a policy, as part of the TV agreement, that stipulates you must have predominantly dark versus predominantly light, and they then also (stupidly) say that both red and black are dark!!! So, more red instead of black does not do the trick, under their stupid policy.

Time to change the policy!!!! Some common sense pls.

i think most of us are aware of this..... we were just suggestiong what we think would be the perfect clash strip in a perfect world. The idea that red is classed as a dark colour is obviously absurd.

actually.. in a perfect world we wouldnt need a clash strip... other clubs would change to suit us :p

So grey is a light colour, red is a dark colour.

Well that's just ****** then ain't it?

If we absolutely must then **** it, just do something creative with a white jumper such that we can say it sucks but it is what it is. In time we will eventually get used to it. In the mean time it should cause less "clashes" than our supposed "clash" guernsy.

I think we saw the true effects of what happens when a team clashes on saturday.

Our boys just didn't have that instinct around each other when in possession of the ball. They got the ball fine, but it was what they did after it that was the problem.

I hope it's not some bad luck jumper that causes us to lose every game we see it in.

I'm amazed some people don't think it was a problem, we were off a few % due to the jumper & st kilda took maximum adv of it

If we wear it against Port we'll lose i'm sure of it & against Adel we'll get torched, GWS & GC would have probably got us first up in that foreign coloured abomination.

I'm bewildered the club powerbrokers have made yet another crazy decision seemingly on the run, which if allowed to continue will certainly derail our season if it hasn't already.

The players need to be asked their opinion & if they think it's even a slight problem, a courageous decision needs to be made NOW.

"The Bombers have dubbed it their heritage guernsey and it will be worn when Essendon is the away team against St Kilda, Melbourne, Richmond and Port Adelaide."

OK the majority of people agree the grey jumper sucked & was obviously detrimental to our performance, other light colours such as white/silver are unacceptable, so that leaves red & black.
The AFL needs to be convinced Red with a black sash works, this picture clearly demonstrates it could be a viable option if executed properly
