that sometimes make your day.

I am lucky enough to have Craig Bolton as my neighbour, the other day he was out front passing and kicking the ball to Amon Buchanan just like countless kids around the country, in tee short shorts and bare feet.

It reminded me of my early days in Ararat where we used to try and kick the ball between electrical lines.

Thought I might just share this with you all amongst all the high powered stuff that goes on today.

Cheers

Must of been a lot of turnovers going on

Get any touches?

pr0n and Fireworks? What's dull about that ;)

Fireworks went out years ago didn't it!!!

I hate Canberra and you're right Rusty22 It's the most dull town I've ever lived near and I've been to some shit holes.

Lucky I'm 40 minutes out and rarely go in there. Kids love it, missus loves it but I knew as soon as we left the real Territory that I'd made a mistake. I actually watch the NT Weather Radar to brighten my day up....Look, what can't you love about a good build up storm!

They sure did. It just recently went out in the N.T didn't it? Still made it fun for a good childhood blowing up various things.

People bag Canberra a lot but I don't think it's all bad. I've grown up here my whole life. Sure I'd like to live in Melbourne and go to the footy every week. But it's what you make of it.

Another Ararat origin person!

Only AFL history from Ararat is Rene Kink, Scottie Turner Stuart Stewart as far as I'm aware. Even Beuafort down the road has had more lately with Shane O'Bree and the Couch brothers in Adelaide.

Love it :thumbsu:

I go down to Coogee most weekdays ... and I would have expected to see aliens dropping by for a paddle at Wylie's baths before I'd see lads having a 'kick-to-kick' with a Sherrin ... such is the bane of living in Sydney!

Went to school in Canberra for a few years. Enjoy the company of those I met there, as Canberrans are a chill lot, but the place is an absolute hole.

People bang on about how it's a great place to raise a family, but all it provides is larger properties and lots of space. The education I experienced was shite (and this was at a public school in a relatively affluent suburb, I dread to think what some of the others are like), as is popularly noted there's nothing to do, the public transport is bad and overpriced, and the real estate costs the same as an inner suburb in an established city.

Enjoying the nostalgia you know I hope next year I see a pass lace out hit on chest then goal on run ...lets do it

Yeah you're not wrong there Bard. What school did you go to? Pretty much if you're not attending a private school its a bit hard to get a leg up. The gap is a big difference compared to other states I feel. But hey that's public schools without any funding for you.

Larger properties on tiny small blocks that cost you a fortune. It's horrid and its the one thing I hate about the place. I suppose there a lot of negative points, but you can pick out most of them anywhere else. Like I said before, it is getting a lot better with events, sports etc. Or you can do what I like to do and participate in many an ale :)

I also live in Canberra, great place to live and to grow up playing Australian footy. It's pretty much a large country town.

A mate from work met Craig Bolton at a bucks party, said he's been bored as since finishing playing career with the Swans!

Also, I played state footy with Craig when he lived in Canberra. He was a winger then.
The Cloke family was also in Canberra for a while when David was playing with Ainslie. I played state footy with Jason at about age 13, he was a ridiculously courageous midfielder then and I was the ruckman feeding it to him. Cameron and Travis were just two little kids chasing a ball around on the sideline. Now Trav is my size.

Hopefully the NEAFL can get a lot stronger in the next decade and start producing more AFL level talent.

Cool story. Thanks for listening.

First time I went to Canberra in the early 90's a mate and I were driving around in circles trying to find the City centre. We eventually found it - and the only reason we knew we found it was we came across a sign that said "city centre" :P

I've since spent a lot of time there - including living there for around a year and I didn't mind it.

Canberra gets a bad rap because people compare it to Melbourne and Sydney. Canberra only has 300,000 population whereas Melbourne / Sydney are metropolises of 4 / 5 million so of course they're going to have more opportunities and more to see and do.

Come have kick for Belconnen if you want Phantom :p We also can claim Bucks as one of our own! That's always a plus.

And so do you. I bought crackers in Alice back in 2012. What a boner! Although party poopers at that time were consistently protesting for a ban. pr0n was a no go. Meh, I prefer crackers.

Went to Deakin High for about 18 months before moving back to Melbourne (parent worked in public service).
