Watched Footy Classified Monday night 2nd June & paid particular attention to Vlad's (Demetriou's) interview. Among a whole range of things, Gary Lyon really put Vlad to the sword over the Trigg-Rendell affair, where Lyon quoted some previous comments Vlad made -
"Matt Rendell should start looking for another job."
Or words very similar to that. Then Vlad went on to say that Rendell's dismissal was entirely between Rendell & The Adelaide Football Club, where he had nothing to do with the decision that was made. Christ Almighty! Has Vlad's brain taken a leave of absence? How on God's green Earth do you expect anyone to believe that?!?
Any decent CEO would've immediately got on the phone to the top Silks in the land, who would've then slapped Vlad with a writ to appear in Court. Instead, we get served up a plate of public relations garbage, where arguably the finest Recruiter in the Land clears out his desk & heads to Collingwood.
It's this exact sort of garbage why Trigg is nothing but a self-serving stain on this club....who needs to be made a distant memory.
Unlike many people, I despise racism....particularly closet racists....hearing them make the most vile comments in private, away from public scrutiny....particularly about Aborigines & Muslims & people from the Middle East. These Redneck idiots make me sick.
But all those months ago, I watched the Rendell interview & was absolutely moved by what I heard him say. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but (in my opinion) everything Matt Rendell has ever said has been with the best intentions. Whatever offence he caused was (in my opinion) taken out of context, where both Vlad & Trigg have publicly shattered that man....AND his family.
This incident is one of many where Trigg has proven....etched in stone....that he is a stain on this club....and needs to be shown the door. At the moment, the players are working their guts out....not for the club that we love....but for public reputation & financial wealth of our CEO & Senior Hierarchy.
We need a change at this club, and from a long time ago.
Until the Adelaide media turn on him he ain't going anywhere. Because hes born and bred in SA we can forgive even the most extreme of indiscretions. If he was Victorian we would have run him out of town along time ago.

He should been sacked for lying to everyone even before the penalties were handed to us.

The Adelaide media wont turn on him, Rowey is deluded and thinks Trigg is the Steve Jobs of the football world while on the other end of the spectrum Rucci knows full well that Trigg is incompetent, but will never publicly say it because having an incompetent CEO like Trigg running the Crows is exactly what he wants as t's giving Port a leg-up.

Jenny's biggest error is that she believes verbatim everything Trigg tells her.
People do tend to believe their friends, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. I am not a fool though and I've asked questions if I had doubts about anything I've been told. I will be honest and say I don't think I was told the whole truth - but that what I was told was true.

Friends are human too, they are subject to acts of self preservation and manipulation of the truth. If you think that because another person has been branded 'friend' status by you that they are an open book and will never mislead you to suit their own ends, then you're incredibly naive.

I know that my friends would be honest with me, but I would still be fully aware that I was only hearing their side of the story.

I'm sure Steven is being honest with you, and I'm sure he truly believes that he has done nothing wrong. He is wrong though.

What I don't understand is why on The Sunday Footy Show last week, he apologised and said he was remorseful for the Tippett mess..
He also said they didn't need to do what they did which makes it even more silly, even in his own eyes..
I thought he did nothing wrong..

Shows even more about how incompetent he is, not only tried bending or breaking rules but did it when there was apparently no need at all..:rolleyes:

Absolutely. We made payments outside the salary cap and were punished for it. The moronic thing is that if we'd included those payments in the cap we'd still have been under!

Yes the $ could have been accomodated legally in salary cap but it could all be seen as manipulating draft - and where things really went against us is that we tried to deceive the AFL. And as I keep telling my kids, I can forgive indiscretions but don't ever try to put one over on me!

I've never been as concerned about the side payments. Or, perhaps I should rephrase. I've been significantly less concerned about that, as opposed to our attempt to subvert the draft rules. It is the latter where we really ****** up, and were smacked accordingly.

When you say draft rules, what are you actually referring to there Stab?

On that issue I'm kinda in the 'never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence' side.

I suspect that they really didn't think they had to declare the money unless we had to pay it directly.

If we had mentioned nothing about third party payments and Kurt got the offer - not in cap

Because we guaranteed it, and said that we'd pay any shortfall, it should have been in the cap. I just think they had no idea that was the case, which is as inexcusable as deliberate cheating.

But in the infamous letter we specifically stated that this could not be included in the officially lodged version of the contract because we knew it was against the AFL rules

Always puzzled me why this gets referred to as a draft breach. Had stuff all to do with the draft.
Well, it kind of does. We were promising to trade him for draft picks well below his value, as a carrot for agreeing to stay a bit longer and give us more time to convince him to stick around long-term. We were effectively abusing the draft for our own benefit. Hence we were subverting the draft.

Imagine if we had asked him to give us $100k in exchange for agreeing to trade him out for a low-value pick in two years time. Same concept. We benefitted from abusing the draft.
