Hes been in the role for half a year. Bit hard to win something when we are halfway through his first season. In that time we've landed the biggest sponsor we've ever had, got our 2nd major sponsor to double his input from last year, landed numerous other 2nd tier sponsors, club record membership level, despite what you say we've improved our crowds by over 30% to have our best average crowd in 6 years and will apparently be $3m+ better off than last year. Yep, hes a shocker.

I am happy to concede Port has a better Chairman, CEO and fitness director than us.

You were the one telling us how hard done by he was copping the 50,000 fine and not earing a wage for six months. Obviously didn't effect him too much if he could spend a lot of that time travelling around the world.

Of course that's assuming he wasn't getting a wage from the club which I don't believe for a second.
Thank you Rob Garrard.

Steven Trigg on 5AA

A few notes whist listening.
Thanks for the summary :thumbsu:

  • Tippett gate - not effecting the playing group and this seasons poor form. The negative people are the ones who use this as an excuse.
This is some serious bullshit. Even taking all the penalties out of it and the long term effect of no picks, we are paying approximately $800k less in our salary cap than the contending clubs. Straight away we are at a significant disadvantage.

  • We may get an answer in time (and) the vast majority of Crows supporters have had enough and are ready to move on. The one who are not, are simply agitators.
His stance that those who are seeking out the truth are agitators intent on harming the club is absolutely reprehensible. And then he has the temerity to say that he's all about regaining trust.
  • License, reserves side and a new business plan to make a grater profit next year are high on his list of things to do but the Adelaide Oval is his number 1 priority.
He brings this holy trinity up as often as possible. Divert attention to these three projects and at all costs away from the onfield. Disassociate himself as much as possible with us losing matches.

Also, him saying he thought the AFL were too harsh on them is a pissweak excuse. Like if they had of only fined the club or something and not stripped draft picks then the whole thing wouldn't be an issue and there'd be no questioning about him returning as CEO.

The real worry is that he's basically admitting that if the truth came out, it would hurt the Crows further
This.

If the AFC was in the right, the Tippett's threats of legal action would be meaningless, as truth is a defence to defamation. (I'm assuming they'd sue for defamation - what else could they possibly threaten?)

She (or you) sounds confused. Is her issue that he he got the job in the first place, or that he was given another chance. Cos there weren't too many ex - footballers who were part of the decision to retain him - only qualified respected business people. People who I'm pretty sure are better equipped than your mates wife.

Pretty big call about his mates wife given how little he said about her

I also read into it that if he told the "truth" that Tippett, or someone connected to him (I assume Dad), would threaten to sue the Crows.
What bullshit. This is what Chapman told me on the phone earlier in the year (or last year, whenever it was). Truth is a defence to any defamation or similar action. Nothing stopping them from telling it like it is.

To think we could have possibly had any one of Toumpas, Stringer, Macrae, Wines, Mayes, Vlastuin, Menzel, Jaksch, Lonergan......(Tippett Trade)
Toumpas desperately wanted to be a Crow - when it looked like we could trade Tippett for something of value, there was a glimmer of hope.

BTW I always thought triggy was classless in this affair, but the way he's thrown Rendell under the bus today puts the K in Klassy

Keeps saying Rendell did really bad things ooooh but I can't tell you, best stay in the club nod wink etc

What a squib

Don't ******* say anything then, not this furtive innuendo. No accountability as you tap your nose & wink...

If its real enough to allude to out with it, or shut up

Otherwise its just character assassination of the least courageous kind.

Should go back to geography

They were too harsh - our penalties were total bullshit; so why did we meekly accept them?

Seriously. What do you do? What do you do?

As a supporter who is thoroughly disgruntled what are your options?

I'm not changing allegiances, I'll always feel passionately about our on field players but at some point a message simply must be sent to the organisation.

Do you walk away from football in general and follow a new sport? Someone help me here because I'm suffering an identity crisis of sorts where I love my club and ******* loathe everything about them all in one.

A mass no show on Saturday night would be interesting.

Become a Foxtel supporter.

Or just watch them via free to air TV and stop giving them money. This crap has one more year in my family and then, it's no more cash for them.

The last straw is the license and voting right. If the license goes from the SANFL to the members and we don't get a voting right, it's no more membership for me. It's a TV sport then and every year my family will spend the $1000 on something else.

I feel sick saying it, and I'm a long way away from it yet... But look at Port...

Good administration, great coach, fantastic young list...

I couldn't ever bring myself to abandon the Crows, but I've never actually felt jealous of Port supporters before - yet, now, I feel so disenfranchised and disrespected by the management of the Crows, I do.

Oh, and that's in the midst of being in discussions with the AFC to buy a corporate package worth around $9k for the first Adelaide Oval season.

I used to think Trigg was savvy and one of the best in the business... oh how i was wrong.

The whole grubby affair and the backroom wheeling and dealing has just shown how shifty and cunning he is.

He will have to perform Jesus-like miracles to regain any remote sort of trust back from supporters in particular.

The sniping of Rendell for political expediency was weak. The way he attempted to meekly deflect any responsibility was embarrassing.

For what Trigg probably gets paid and the damage he has caused is reprehensible and would not be tolerated in professional Company. He was the CEO for crying out loud, not the 3 quarter time orange peeler.

I'm already a no show geographically unfortunately. I am a gold member though (which I'm contemplating relinquishing with a letter attached).

It's the same deal for us. 1300 bucks worth can go towards something worthwhile is how I'm thinking.

I could never, ever bring myself to support that mob. Ever. I'm not an abandoner.

One thing I will say however that makes me feel dirty even mentioning is this:

I used to laugh off when my Port supporting mates would throw the whole 'CrowCorp' and 'Manufactured Franchise' and 'SANFL bastard child' lines at me. In light of these recent events it's patently clear that they were 100% on the money. The boys club and lack of interest in what the members actually want is staggering.

I'm completely and utterly disillusioned.

Spot on Sanders.

He implied Rendell was guilty of other things and so blackened Rendell's name....

Then the doozy, construes this as being fair to Rendell.

  • We may get an answer in time (and) the vast majority of Crows supporters have had enough and are ready to move on. The one who are not, are simply agitators.
  • No positives in regurgitating the facts surrounding the Tippett gate as its just litigious and will only do harm to the club.
  • Something about legal issues but I misses that part with his mumbling but at the moment, it won't come out. Maybe one day but not right now and not for a long time.
  • Makes no apologies for making the best decision for the club but categorically says this was a mistake.
  • His Port Adelaide Comments he made a few years ago were no fair to him as they were made at a Real Estate function and were only ever intended top help that club.
  • Matthew Rendell - not fair to drag that up again and things happen for a reason and it's best only people inside the club know.
  • Phil Harper was Stiffy mentor and that's why he was the only person from the club at his retirement press conference. Nothing sinister but the way Graham wanted it.
  • Adelaide Oval next on his agenda and is his number 1 priority.
  • License, reserves side and a new business plan to make a grater profit next year are high on his list of things to do but the Adelaide Oval is his number 1 priority.
  • Happy with Nigel Smart and Mark Colsen joining the leadership roles as it takes a few issues of his plate as it gives him and the board more support. He is delighted by those appointments.
  • Questions put to him: The club is sorry for what they did, not sorry for getting court. A bloody dumb thing to do and tried to fix it but did a dumb thing at that as well and couldn't fix it.
  • Over the next 12 months, some very positives changes will be seen around the club.
PUKE.
