It's time to make our move.

Yes, it's still early in the "marathon" that is the AFL season, but we have a rare opportunity here.

I've noticed that after a 3-1 start, the next 3 weeks involve games we should win.

If we win them, and with Collingwood that is still a big if, we will be 6-1 after 7 games, and we will only have to go 8-7 over the last 15 games to make top 4 (14 wins almost always gets top 4).

With the Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Adelaide all struggling, it seems now that Sydney, Fremantle and Brisbane may be our contenders for 3rd and 4th spot.

We simply must win our next 3 games, and set up our season early.

Yes we can set up our sesaon over ther next 3 weeks. We have the bombers.Carlton,The Roos .
We must win the next three games at least.

We then Face Freo at Subi,Geelong,Western Bulldogs all could be hard games.

So next few weeks are must win games

On paper and on form we should win the next 3. It's hard to be too confident though considering how these teams get 'up' for playing the pies.

To be 6-1 would be a fantastic result, would really set us up for the top 4.

Totally agree.

Being 3-1 after facing three of our four biggest bogey sides and fellow premiership contenders, is a very good start to the year. And the best part is, key players like Swan, Pendlebury, Medhurst and Jolly all have immense room for improvement. It's been our young, second-tier midfielders that have carried our season thus far - Wellingham, Beams, Sidebottom, Thomas. Good signs, now we must win the next three as you said.

Agree we should win our next 3 games by at least 5 Goals

I'd be happy with 4-5 goal wins over Essendon and Carlton, but we have to build our percentage up against North Melbourne.

We don't play another team capable of giving us a "percentage boost" till Queens Birthday (round 12) and with the 4 "toughies" in between, we need to take advantage of the next 3 games for both 12 premiership points and a boost in percentage.

Not that percentage may matter in the end, win enough games and we will finish 3r or 4th, and face either Stkilda or Geelong in the first week, and to win the flag you will probably have to beat them both in September anyway.

I'd be happy with just wins tbh.

Anything can happen in footy and anyone can beat anyone. Especially ANZAC day, as we all know.

On paper we should win them all pretty easily but on paper doesn't mean much on the ground as we seen against Melbourne.

Very important that we win the next 3..... The boys should be up for anzac day considering what happened last year, and they will want to put in a very solid 4 quarter effort. I would have taken 3-1 at the start of the year any day.

Agreed the next 3 games are games we should win and will really help set us up for later in the year. To be honest managing 3-1 playing the footy we have has helped us more then winning three games we should win. The Melbourne escape and playing a injury riddled Hawthorn is the kind of luck you need to make a real tilt sometimes.

when you expect a team to win by 5 goal +, you'll end up disappointed more often than not..

have another flat day and we'll struggle to win, let alone win by 5 goals.

If we win the games that we should win, the percentage will take care of itself.

I would looking at going 18-4 for the year.

The main worry of the next three weeks is Essendon for me. Their pace usually exposes us but we have the class so we should win it. To be 6-1 after seven rounds of footy would be great. Playing Freo will be very tough and we could easily lose that game because our record interstate against Freo is pretty average.Go Pies

I have our season chopped into blocks.

The first month was critical. 3-1 is a super result, considering the teams we have played.

Now, we can really springboard our season with wins in our next 3 over Essendon, Carlton and North.

Realistically, these games should be "certainties" but we all know it's never the case with Collingwood.

As Opti said, we just need to keep on winning.

Agree with the idea the next 3 are vital to win but if we did that and then limp into the finals in with an 8-7 record over the last 15 weeks we are sitting ducks. Thats not the sort of season that wins a flag and thats what 2010 is about.

I will happily take the 6-1 then I want to follow with 13-2 or 12- 3 at a minimum and go into the finals as a form team expecting to do well

collingwood next 7 games: essendon, carlton, north melbourne, freo, geelong, brisbane, bulldogs

3 winnable games, then 4 hard games

fremantle next 5 games: richmond, west coast, brisbane, collingwood, sydney

3 hard games, 2 winnable

brisbane next 6 games: melbourne, sydney, fremantle, geelong, adelaide, collingwood

5 hard games, 1 winnable

sydney next 5 games: west coast, brisbane, geelong, bulldogs, fremantle

4 hard games, 1 winnable

Sydney have West Coast, while the Bulldogs have Adelaide this week.

Look for WC and the Crows to get up.

Fact is we have to approach every game as a must win. That's how you build the right mindset. This idea of pencilling in "winnable" games is rubbish.
Come the last 4 rounds we want to have the boys firing, confident, if not a little arrogant, and completely lacking awe of any other side.

Have to agree Pie Eyed. I was just saying to the bro that Geelongs mindset seems one of never ever putting the queue in the rack no matter how far in front or behind they are. If we can get a consistent winning attitude in place we will rival the best. With that said, we've needed this approach for about three years.

Considering their form and injury list Adelaide have at the moment, they wouldn't be considered a hard game for the teams above, if they rediscover their form though they will be.
Our next three games are crucial though, need to win them to be in a healthy position for the four games after that which we could easily drop a few. Those four games are going to pretty important - they are effectively 8 point games considering they are our competition for the top four.
