Shep plays well with the ball coming at him. Keep things relatively spatially simple and he'll at least halve almost any defensive contest and create dash for us. Very, very hard to stop in a straight line but doesn't have exceptional lateral movement.

This was his role at u18s. He never looked like a midfielder or wingman after we'd tried for 4 seasons, and now revels in being settled down back.

I haven't seen enough of Brander but he is certainly talented. At some stage he needs to be given at least two games in a row at AFL level.

I think Masten being replaced on the wing makes sense, but Schofield isn't the man to do it.

Any one of the following players I would love to see trialled out on the wing for a game:

Rioli
Cripps
Waterman
Brander

Assuming, lets say Rioli for discussions sake, is moved to the wing, that would leave us a forward line comprising:

Kennedy and Darling as our talls
And Ryan, Cripps, Cameron and Petrucelle as our small forwards


Still looks like a damn good forward line to me

Brutally hard on Schofield - but it's the sign of a strong squad

I wouldn't trust him on the talls as much as i would TB

And he's not as good on the ground or provide as much run as Duggan/Nelson/Cole et al

However he remains damn good and any crack in injury and he's back in. He's best 22 talent, just not best 22 structure.

Schofield is our best lock down defender and GWS, Richmond, Geelong and Brisbane all have genuine FF's. Big call but IMO our injury permitted backline is him, Barrass, McGovern, Sheppard, Hurn and Jetta. What to do with Duggan, Nelson, Cole, Watson, Rotham?
