Still plenty of inter-tribal warfare but....

Most of that is properganda from white supremacists, part of the various tangents of the attempted cover up of the genocide.

Historically when people bring that false point up after someones mentioned something favorable about their civilization, it's the sign of a white supremacists hanging to their belief our culture is superior.

Well I'm no white supremacist lg....Plenty of documented evidence exists from accounts by aboriginals themselves.....And it's probably a poor way to argue the point, truth be told.

If you had an understanding of the trade and diplomatic relations between indigenous nations, you wouldn't of said what you said.

Maybe you're not arguing from a background of racial intolerance, perhaps its religious. When you read about how the whites went about murdering villages, they hunted the women and children by listening out for the sounds of laughter and song. one of the key policies of aboriginal society was the children grow up wiser and healthier the more they laughed. so there was a large emphasis on having the children laughing as much as possible. This made it easy to stalk, hunt and destroy the future of those nations.

Not arguing against the European genocide that occurred mate....Only a fool would.

But lets not imagine that any society is perfect or stands outside of the usual vices that accompany the human condition....And yes, that includes crime & murder.

Aboriginal religion is full of tales of murder and crime. They were a pretty happy relaxed people who maintained a future for their children. We are a horrible people ruining our society and our environment, bringing unspeakable suffering on all of this planets people.

Our TV is full of tales of murder and crime, but there's no lesson being taught. Those people responsible for those tales are generally drug/grog abusers, infidels, criminals and funded by corrupt governments and corporations to spread propaganda. Mostly they have no morals whatsoever which relates strongly to the message they are spreading. If you look at the message of aboriginal religions tales of murder and crime, they are positive ones, designed educate and eradicate such behaviors and offer explanations for various other laws. If you look at the people teaching those lessons, they are wise men and women, who have morals and have worked really hard in their community, for their community. these people bring up happy kids. Bert newtons kid aint happy, either is some of Bob Geldofs. Princess Leia has had a lovely productive life, hasn't she? Hows Rolf Harris's gaol cell buddy feel about things?

You will find Bruce Pascoe's book Dark Emu Black Seed extremely interesting LG.
Among the claims are that early Australians invented bread, had organised agriculture, stored food (had excess), made homes from stone and rendered them, that Aboriginal people right across the continent were using domesticated plants, sowing, harvesting, irrigating and storing – behaviours inconsistent with the hunter-gatherer tag.
Very interesting book. The author was on ABC radio last week. Very intriguing evidence to support his theories.

I would actually say a "must read" for anyone seriously interested in the past of this countries first people.

Have you ever lived in a community? Or spent time in one?

Many of us today, indeed the majority of people brought up with a modern western education, tend to disregard the social, ethical and political views of religious people who derive their views from ancient texts that proclaim to be the words of imaginary super beings. The main reason being that there is nothing scientifically supporting the existence of these imaginary super beings and if you bother to sit down and think about it for more than a couple of minutes you realise that the notion that such beings exist and proclaim what they do in their texts is frankly absurd. However despite all this, we as a society tend to fully respect the social, ethical and political views of people who believe in other imaginary made up phenomena that are just as unscientifically supported and frankly just as absurd as the religious super beings. My question is why and when is it going to stop?

We have liberal humanists who believe that a magic sacred nature resides in each and every one us and justify human rights as the magical supreme good rather than just a means to an ends. We have hardcore libertarians who believe the ultimate good in this world is freedom from government above all others. We have people who believe the earth is a magical being in itself and it’s the earth that is the supreme good and humans come second to it. And we have existentialists who believe that each of us should follow our inner voice, the inner voice is the magical supreme good. Scientific studies has found zero evidence for these magical properties and supreme goods. Humans don't have magic sacred natures or souls we are just animals with more developed brains, there is nothing justifying that our inner voice is what we should always follow, no evidence that earth has a consciousness etc. Yet our political, social and ethical debates continue to accept the viewpoints of such people despite there being zero evidence to justify their underlying reasons.

To date we have no evidence for any magical forces in this world. The only thing we know for certain is there is us, animals and there is physical laws. There may well be some magical forces out there but humans have not discovered them yet and thus should only base its ethical, social and political views on what it knows. Given this, how should we ethically, socially and politically act? Well this is simple. We should act in ways that will improve our own happiness through improving pleasure and contentment and reducing pain, anxiety, boredom and depression. One of the ways I believe we can maximise our own happiness is by creating political orders that aim to maximise happiness for all other intelligent beings (this contention is not proven as the best way to improve our happiness but has some pretty strong logic behind it). However, if people believe in imaginary magical forces then ethical, political and social debates don’t end up focusing on what makes people happy, but other issues instead.

It’s time we place the views of all people who believe in magical forces in the same bucket as religious people. This can be one way we can help clear up our political and social debates and ultimately make our lives more satisfying and enjoyable. Thankfully the scientific community has come to the realization of the importance of happiness and finally there is being serious efforts put into researching what makes people happy and unhappy. It’s staggering that research into human happiness has only really begun in the last five decades. The reason its only just begun, if you haven't being paying attention, was because we were all distracted by issues created by imaginary magical forces. We must stop giving such non existent forces validity.
What a heap of s**t.

Your beliefs are as stilted as the rigid Islam, Catholicism and Christianity that are the usual subjects for such attacks. You have just broadened your fire to those that take a more exploratory and hopeful brush to faith. Generally people refer to things as magic if it blows thier mnd so to speak, if its unexplainable, and its the focus on what is out of reach that drives science and evolution generally foward.
Science needs these intuitive thinkers to take extra steps into the unknown then the engineers of science may find away to build the bridge of knowledge underneath them. Chemistry, Philosophy, Astronomy etc all came from religious or magical endeavour to understand the greatness of god.

Geopolitical problems are engineered by geo-political powers. Don't blame them on peoples subjectivity, ... that would be absurd.

Self-Understanding is the way to be able to influence your own happiness, this has been the key message of great religious teachers and modern psychologists alike.

I have no doubt the universe is a logical system, I just think its complexity is far beyond our present and perhaps even possible comprehension and magic is just a word which represents our awe at what is not understood. Why should it be idolised or condemned?
