It's time to talk about Lachie...(Deadly from the pockets, Sprays it from everywhere else edition)

I think the play late in the first quarter today (where we lost the game, imo) summed it up.
Hunter was 20m out absolutely on his own...
... Naughton sees him but taps the ball to himself rather than Hunter...
...and then he handball to Lloyd, despite being under pressure...
....who to be fair, may not have seen him, but throws a pressured snap on his left rather than a simple handball to Hunter still standing 10m in the clear.

I thought it was a really obvious "ignore" rather than "poor decisions".

When he receives the ball 50-80 metres out on the lefthand side, our defenders are likely getting into position, because in all likelihood, it's coming back over his head.

I wonder what his % of effective F50 entries is? My hunch is the opposition, like the ball in his hands entering F50. Other than this, I like him.

Too often he tries to hit a target inside 50 that leaves little room for error. We ended up with a goal from one of his kicks that he bombed to the hot spot, it was one of the longest kicks I’ve seen him do & I questioned why he doesn’t do that more often considering his engine finds himself with a lot of space to do just that

Do the Lachy :

Up on your tiptoes, twirl to the left, twirl to the right, spin right around , kick the ball to the other team

X 10

He rarely gets caught holding the ball, which gives credence to the belief that the opposition don’t care if he has ball in hand.

People often talk about Hunter’s great tank. I am starting to wonder if he should actually try run less each game. Every time the ball comes near him he looks exhausted. Maybe I’m making excuses for him, but could this be part of the reason he always props after taking a mark...even if there’s acres ahead of him. When he’s chasing his opponents he is always stumbling and putting in last ditch dives rather than staying on his feet and staying in the contest.

Maybe he needs to balence his gut running and leave some in the tank for when he needs explosive energy.

There is definitely something to be said about when Lachie is choosing to run. If your opponent is 2 seconds ahead of you and you’re not an explosive animal like Liam Jones you’re not going to catch him.

Whenever he’s taking a shot at goal (set shot or on the run) I have already resigned to the fact it’s going to be a point.

The fact that he has played football all his life and cannot kick 40 metres on his good foot with any penetration or speed is damning. It’s a disgrace really. Similarly with his handballing.

Even I was kicking 40 metres easily when I was a young teen and that’s not an exaggeration. I think this goes for most on here hence the frustration.

The rise and rise of Lachie Hunter:

2013: 9 Games, 119 Disposals, 4 Goals.
2014: 14 Games, 198 Disposals, 9 Goals.
2015: 13 Games, 287 Disposals, 3 Goals.
2016: 26 Games, 719 Disposals, 10 Goals.
2017: 22 Games, 497 Disposals, 18 Goals.
2018: 21 Games, 626 Disposals, 8 Goals.
2019: 19 Games, 498 Disposals, 4 Goals.

Born 13/12/1994 and drafted pick 49 F/S from the Western Jets.

Lots of hate for Lachie Hunter, but did he write up his own five year deal ? Yes his AFL Fantasy price is
a lot higher than his Supercoach price (Quantity over Quality) for the nuffies among you, but is that
not in plain sight for anyone with half a working brain. What you see is what you get, what annoys
me more is watching Bailey Williams career get destroyed before it even starts.

Lachie Hunter is doing fine, for someone drafted pick 49.
The worse kind of goat, is a scapegoat.

Aside from boring everyone to death with a barrage of statistics, you have also completely missed the point.

Nobody is having a go at Pick 49 or his Fantasy Football price. The criticism is of the player, Lachie Hunter and his value to the side.

Do you think he’s doing enough?

Do you think he’s doing enough?
I will have to check the spread sheets Mantis, it depends fully on whether you think he is a good player.
For the record would I have offered him a five year deal ? NO.
Do I blame him for signing said deal ? NO.
Do I think he contributes without being a star ? YES.

Question for you: Does any team have a full list of Marcus Bontempelli types ?

The ratio of Lachie Hunter types is very much higher.
