It's one loss in a season where we expect to experience LOTS of pain. had carlton missed some shots in the first half, then the scoreline would have been totally different at half time, and the second half would have been a lot more interesting. yes our senior players didnt perform like they should have, yes we got destroyed in the ruck and around the ground ball ups. But with the kids we have and the new game plan in zxone, we will be good. astbury and griffiths will be important.

Hate to say it, but it's common trait for us supporters to bag the side when it has a poor loss.

How ordinary were Hawthorn in their first couple of years when Clarkson introduced a new game plan. We all thought that we had the right coach in our first 2 seasons when we were winning games and Hawthorn were struggling, but after year 5 we all knew we had gone down the wrong path.

You can't change a 1/3 of your side and introduce a new game plan over 1 pre-season and expect the side to click from Game 1.
It's one thing to practice a new plan amongst yourselves at training and think you're getting a handle on it, to putting it in place against an opposition that are going to chase you harder, tackle harder and run you of your feet.

I went to the NAB cup final and we are in for a tough game against the Bulldogs - their skills were sublime at times and unfortunately we are a long way off it.

we are going to go through a lot of pain the next few years. but, if we fail and we dont go aswell as most think then i have a feeling some diehards will put other things first than footy.

All bullshit adside, I honestly believe you were closer then the scoreline shows, I thought you had some good moments in the game, Roberts is huge and looked good and the young daisy thomas lookalike showed some speed with the ball.

I think by round 7 that you will start clicking and improving, I dont think this year will be as bad as supporters think.

Good luck in 2010!:thumbsu:

Spot on kleos! Some of you blokes are unbelievable; i really don't know what you were expecting...

Even as a one-eyed Geelong supporter i have always kept a close eye on Richmond as my old man follows 'em. If nothing else believe one thing; the future IS bright!

Deledio, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Morton, Martin, Collins (where was he tonight?), are all going to be ELITE or at worst very good players at AFL level.

The likes of Post, Nahas, Connors, Astbury, Tambling, Vickery (why the f*@# is everyone bagging him?), will more than likely be very good 200+ game players.

Although not many Richmond supporters rate him, i also think Kel Moore can be a top level AFL KP back.

Guys like Hislop and Farmer to provide the grunt.

Unsure on players such as Thomson, McGuane and Edwards though while Simmonds is just plain WOEFUL.

Every single one of the players i listed in the first couple of paragraphs are all very young men, most of 'em only kids in fact!

So, chin up and support your club through thick and thin because you will come out the other side sooner rather than later! :thumbsu:

We turfed some reasonable players who were not going to improve, and 1 year later we suck a lot less.

I'm OK with that and agree that the second half of the year should see some noticeable coordination and implementation of the gameplan

Still hate Eddie Betts' pistol fingers though

Some of our "supporters" are an embarrassment. Piss weak keyboard heroes who only want to support the team when it is winning and spend the rest of the time bitching and moaning.

Actually, don't know that I've seen too many people bagging him. The fact is, he is just so young, raw and skinny that he is ineffectual. There is nothing wrong with suggesting a kid with possibly a bright future might need to spend some time in the VFL to build up some bulk and confidence. In the end, it just a suggestion and opinion, not a case of bagging the kid.

Having said that, we then need to play Simmonds and Graham in his place, which personally I have no problem with. I don't care how shit Simmonds is, he's just there to take some knockouts and maybe get a few touches around the ground. Our ruck stocks suck, but I don't think they are our priority.
