Ivan Soldo v Mason Cox

Mason Cox against Dylan Grimes earlier this year

Ivan Soldo against Worpel this weekend.

These incidents are very similar except that in Soldos case he doesn't move into Worpels path it is Worpel who moves into Soldos. Given Cox got off for his contact off the ball, which Christian said was an intentional act then Soldo must also get off given he did what any person in the same situation would do and that is put their arm up to brace for contact. Would have no issue if Christian had of simply issued a fine for careless high contact given but to give that a week is a complete joke,

Pretty sure Cox was given a week by Christian and Collingwood got it overturned at the tribunal.
Well aware that Cox was initially given a week and got off, my point is that unlike Cox Soldo wasn't the one who initiated contact, he is simply doing the same thing Ablett did last week in using the bumper bar technique to protect himself. As I said no issue if a fine was issued for being careless but to say he intentionally elbowed Worpel in the head is a joke.

The last two weeks tells us all Richmond fans are happy that Ivan has been suspended and they will be imploring their club to not to take this to the Tribunal.

Otherwise given how they reacted to Ablett will see them as the biggest hypocrites in the game.

This has to be a joke... seriously :drunk:

Ivan running back to the centre, Worpel steps in front of him, sizes him up and gets pushed away, plays on it, realises how week he is, gets straight up and confronts Ivan a 2nd time...

Am I missing something here?

It's not Worpel, not Ivan but Christian

needs to be moved on, has no idea

Happy for him to cop a fine as it was a careless act, however he never left his feet(Ablett did twice), never changed direction to run into his opponent(Ablett did once), Worpel initiated the contact by moving into Soldos path(Ablett initiated contact twice)

Just want some consistency. They'll never get it perfect, but right now it seems rather random.

Definitely worth challenging. Could very well be argued he makes a split second decision to protect himself. He even instantly puts his hands out in classic 'didn't mean to hit you high' fashion and doesn't blow up when challenged by Hawks players. There was no 'red mist' descending, no intention, just an accident when bracing for impact.

The reality is you shouldn't really step into the path of a giant looking to run past you. He is going to hurt you if he means to or not.

I'd be fine with it if both ablett and fyfe (and Mitchell last year) had been suspended.

It's not random. The afl very deliberately have let off ablett, fyfe plus Mitchell last year.

The afl would rather have the bad PR of letting star players off lightly than the PR of having their b&f winner ineligible because they're a dirty dog.

It's easier for them to make an example of the players no-one cares about.

It is consistent, its exactly the same finding Ablett got for his Shiel action

So you admit they let Dusty off lightly for punching Robinson so they didn't suffer him polling most votes but not getting medal?

This doesnt work on mobile

Literally the only posters in here to think soldo should be suspended after the ablett and fyfe decisions is Geelong supporters. that says a lot.
Mate he raised his elbow and hit Worpel deliberately in the face ... and off the ball.

Ablett was suspended for his hit on Shiel and challenged it successfully.

Ablett tried to block Wright from running onto the ball and struck him high with a forearm. No suspension.

It's pretty clear.

Soldo didn't need to do it and he did.
