The worst thing about that Jonas interview on 5AA was that he was saying that basically we'd played 2 bad quarters and 6 good quarters of football. If we really think those 6 quarters were good i am going to hang myself
Maybe an Adele concert will cheer you up

Commander Hinkley:
"Lord Thomas, this is an unexpected pleasure. We are honoured by your presence."

Lord Thomas: "You may dispense with the pleasantries, commander. I'm here to put you back on schedule."

Commander Hinkley:
"I assure you Lord Thomas, my players are working as hard as they can."

Lord Thomas: "Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them."

Commander Hinkley: "I tell you this club will make top four as planned."

Lord Thomas: "The BigFooty Port Forum does not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation."

Commander Hinkley: "But they ask the impossible. I need more run."

Lord Thomas: "Then perhaps you can tell them that by dropping that spud Lobbe for our next JLT game."

Commander Hinkley: "The Port Forum is coming to Noarlunga?"

Lord Thomas: "That is correct, commander. And they are most displeased with your apparent lack of progress."

Commander Hinkley: "We shall double our efforts."

Lord Thomas: "I hope so, commander, for your sake. The Port Forum is not as forgiving as I am."
We all know how well that turned out...

NUFC, YES.
Must be the club line. Lade said the same.
They're just selling hope at this point. The top brass would be deathly afraid of a Football Parkesque downturn at the Oval, especially when we're balls deep in the China strategy.

Stranger things have happened and they could be vindicated. Doubtful though.

Silly thing is they don't need to do that at this point.

If we win against Sydney, or least put up a good fight, AO will be packed to the rafters in Round 2.

It would give me more hope if the club line was to call a spade a spade.

It would make me feel more comfortable.
Does it really matter what the club line is? I'd prefer to see some action and results.

Well to me yes. Maybe not you.

Of course We would all love to see results. But nothing wrong with saying what we produced was not acceptable.

I have seen the same stuff over the years so it's at a point where they either believe this is acceptable or they either believe that the people who buy memberships are going to keep eating these lines.

Questions over the fall from grace from the team and individuals and we wonder why.

Dead man walking basically. He's lost the players unfortunately. Can hear it in his voice post JLT Vs Richmond. If the crowds drop below 20s which I suspect they might I'll honestly be surprised if he's still here after June.

It's a shame I really like the bloke. I'm not sure what the board expects. When they used bang on about having good support behind new coaches after the Primus circus you'd think they would ensure that Richo and Walsh's replacements were ready made assistants. Not the failed ones we have now.
What was the point of Lade as well? Lade has already publically said he wants Trengrove, Lobbe and Ryder all in the same side. WTF and his bright idea to move Trengrove forward midway through his career? Ken's under pressure so they poach a failed assistant from Richmond.. and leave Voss in charge of our mids who are shells of their former selves.. We literally have 3-4 mids and all of them have gone backwards.

Nah fair enough,

Someone made a great post can't remember who, the premise was when KT first arrived he was all about getting the small things right from the steakhouse etc which sends the professionalism through the organisation.... I like to lump these situations into that.

It's almost as if each one of our opponents went over our 2014 gamefilm with a forensic bent and worked out how to nullify our plan-A.

And we don't have a plan-B. Let alone C, D, E.

And what have we done to adapt? The überpress? 2.5 years of shoulder shrugging?
We've worked harder.

You irritate the **** out of me sometimes we'd have to be losing by 100 point margins week in week out for that to ever happen again.

The problem is too much plastering over cracks, so we can have zero confidence in the 'I'm sure behind closed doors they know it wasn't good enough' routine. That didn't apply in 2015/2016 nearly enough, so some upfront acknowledgement of issues at least would give us hope they'll try to address rather then year 3 of 'it's about to all click'.

We averaged 10000 more than the premiership year serving up last year's slop

I don't agree with hiring from programs that have yielded bad results. Why we had to get Lade who had shown in his time at Richmond nothing but mediocrity along with Voss who had shown completely failure at Brisbane and expect people from these unsuccessful programs to come here and suddenly be successful. You get the guys from the successful programs because they know what it takes, how would any of the people we've grabbed lately have a clue what it takes when they haven't been able to be in a coaching group that's been capable of delivering any success.

I have zero confidence in the 'I'm sure behind closed doors they know it wasn't good enough' routine. That is why I disregard everything they say and want to see action and results. How many times did Cassisi et al trot out the "line in the sand" cliche yet never actually back it up with action?

So we've established that their actions are either plaster over it or talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. Yah

Seriously though any of our players, outside Robbie Gray, recruited up to around 2010 need to be retired or off-loaded. Either they were mentally shot by 2007 or had too much exposure to the list shortly there after, when it was toxic. Ken has quite a few faults, but if he can't see by now those players are permanently scarred beyond redemption he deserves all he's going to get this year.

I lose my faith in him completely when he came out after Richmond and said that they players are doing the new stuff too quickly:

“(the players are working) too much (of the change).”

Well if you have changed the gameplan which is completely unrecognisable to me but apparently they are trying to do too much new stuff.. in the JLT challenge which is specifically for doing all the new stuff. This to me said I have no idea.

Add this:
“And you won’t get picked until you deserve to play. We’re very keen to pick players who deserve to play.”

Heard that before so we can expect gold passes again this year.

Line in the sand is just more puff like we played 3 good qtrs. Just call it how it is.

It's the same jazz/attitudes that leads to your Lobbe's and Hamish's getting lengthy contracts.
