I just clicked the link. Got behind the paywall. Wish i didn't. Man... feel sick.

Just because Koch spelled out the obvious does it really make a difference? He just said Ken is contracted. He's hardly going to say "Yeah, **** it, you can all go your hardest".

What people say publicly in football can often be the opposite of what's going on behind closed doors. Do the words "He has the full confidence of the board" sound familiar just prior to a coach being sacked? I'm not saying Ken will be sacked, but clubs and coaches can come to mutually beneficial parting of ways from time to time.

Well Koch why are you guaranteeing the guy a permanent job next year when we haven't made or done anything in finals yet this year? We may even miss. Surely you would consider every possibility and not rule anything out considering what a dismal showing we have made in the past 3 years under Ken. I would not be publicly saying anything and let this season play out.

But then again maybe it is like when he vowed to retain Alan Richardson. I really hope so.

The AFL have made it very hard to sack a coach with the $9.6 million Football Department spending cap.
If a coach is sacked, the payout figure would be included in the spending cap along with the new coaches deal.
Any overspending on the cap is taxed by the AFL at a huge 75% of every dollar over the cap.

I'm hoping you're right and its game playing. I'm just hoping the club does whats best for the club, and we all move on to a utopia where the players believe in the game plan and play their guts out whatever the result and the fans love it.

Well can we spend money to bring in a highly regarded tactician?
I used to believe that was all Ken really needed. A clever tactician in the box. Someone to help him see the bigger picture, with a good football brain, tactically astute and strong in their convictions and that would allow Ken to do all the motivation, relationship stuff with the players.

But sadly I think Ken has morphed into another mad scientist (aka Choccostein) and now Ken is totally convinced that he is on the path to righteousness and will not deviate from his plan. We cannot allow Ken to go further into his delusions or our club will be back on its knees and i fear it may never really recover from another freefall into the abyss.

Oh for sure, sometimes those comments by the board are the kiss of death.

I'm reasonably certain that Voss was hired on the recommendation of Hart
Voss was hired because he was 'coach' of The Recruit which was produced by Cos Cardone, via McGuire Media, who carries Kochie's bags when he is in Melbourne.
