J. Brown vs B. Fevola

A recent thread on the main board says that Brown may be moving to Carlton - but Fev may have to make way.

So, who would you rather?
Brown or Fevola?

i'd say brown is better than fevola but i'd rather keep fevola than do a straight swap for brown if that makes any sense. if i was starting a team from scratch, i'd want brown.

Playing ability they are fairly similar but Browns on field presence is far greater than Fevs. Brown has great leadership,Fev on bad days doesn't tackle whinges to the umpires and has poor body language. Browns off field incidents record is a lot shorter than Fev's too.

Fev is just an off-the-scale talent who thrives on big crowds and high pressure. Currently the best forward in the AFL by one solid light year. His onfield actions are a brilliant role model for our young team. I have to laugh when members of the anti-Carlton-talent-envy cohort think Fev's onfield dummy spits are a bad thing. He's perfectly entitled to dummy spit when the delivery isn't up to standard and in fact this "feedback" makes sure our developing midfield talent continue to improve. Love the passion he plays the game with and he's a great team player. Even if he only kicks a few, his defensive efforts this year have been outstanding. Oh, and players who decide to block his space on the lead will know about it.

Brown's leadership gives him my vote.

In terms of pure playing ability, both absolute guns. Fev has done it for quite a while in a team that didn't exactly have great supply. Brown's had very good midfield service for most of his career. Having said that, I'm not drawing a distinction between the two, because Brown hasn't had the chance to show what he can do in a team like Carlton over the past few years.

Brown is a CHF who can go to the midfield, he's tougher, better overhead mark, better leader, better clubman, better bloke. Fev's a one-dimensional FF who gets winded running outside the 50 and needs the ball delivered on a platter.

In my opinion, Brown has been living of his reputation for the last 5 years. Most people will vote for him without even thinking about it, much like how commentators/journalists/fans immediately throw his name up when discussing the top 4 or 5 players in the comp, despite the fact that he has only produced brilliant football for an entire season on one occasion.

He is undoubtedly an imposing, talented KP forward, though if the rest of his career is commensurate to what he has produced thus far, in overall terms, he won't be a blade of grass on Carey's bootlaces.

Nonetheless, he is a better player than Fev, as he is more complete.
