Had a look at for Jarrads stats at VFL level and came across some pretty basic stuff.

Looks like he played 14 games with Coburg in 2009, for 5 goals. He was named in the best just once and played 1 game in the Coburg reserves.

I couldn't find any disposals, marks or tackles stats.

I don't think anyone's a fan from what's been shown so far, otherwise he wouldn't have been de-listed from Richmond of all clubs (no offence, Tiger fans). It's all based on what our guys think could have been for JON, and what still may be, if all goes well.

They must've seen something in JON's game to think he's not a lost cause yet. Tambling proved just this year that he has some quantity of talent, how long did that take?

At the end of the day, we didn't waste anything taking a shot with JON. A late rookie pick is nothing. If he flops, then so be it, but if he makes the grade then we scored ourself a bargain. No real loss either way.

A yellow for stating the obvious....well I'll be stuffed.:D
Just imagine the West Coast scorn and derision if we had drafted this obvious champion in J-ON and Hayden Ballantynes vertically challenged brother
Take a deep breath mods...it is the off season after all.

It's because we have a good reputation of developing players and you guys are a joke. :)

That's a good point but Tambling's first year produced more than JON has in his career. Tambling has now played nearly 100 games yet in one less season JON has managed 12ish.

That's what you get when your first post on this board is such quality...

JON.... was a skinny runt that never had the body to play AFL when he arrived. Only ever had 1 full pre-season. He was always going to take time to develop. 3-4 years minimum. The up shot for you guys is that his body is just about right. He has enough build on him now to play. This will lead to confidence something he struggled with.

He glides along the park when he runs and has very tidy kicking action.

As mentioned he needs to work on his awarness. But if he is encouraged to run and carry and with added strength to push off oponents this weakness will be reduced. Goodes gets caught alot but with strength he can take it ad still off load the ball.

He will play well in the WAFL.. and will impress enough for a call up.

Thanks, sounds like a balanced positive assessment:thumbsu:

If JON and the fitness guys can get his body 100% right and he gets his confidence up to AFL levels the sky's the limit.

I'm predicting an attacking HBF / wing role with him running with the oppositions best outside mid. Give him a simple job of running with the best and tell him to light up the after burners as soon as he gets clear.:D

There is another reason for his struggle with self confidence that is not widely known and I'm not sure that Richmond were fully aware of it. Those who are very close to the boy know what the problem is and maybe even some on this board particularly those who followed his WAFL Club.

I watched him at training a few times... he has a great natural kicking style... it will only get better with strength
