J-ON has been delisted by the Tigers

Is 4 years at Richmond too much for a player to be irreversibly damaged ?

I still remember how much of a fan he was of West Coast pre draft, would be a dream come true for him to get on the list.

Turns 22 next year so he is still young enough to go on to the rookie list or if we are really keen - very late draft pick.

as long as his head is at the right place, def worth a punt i think.
for the right price of course.

if we could get him training with us off season and pick him up pre-season draft that would be awesome.

im sure west coast will go through all the correct procedures and make a decision... if they are interested of course

He's had long enough in the game to show something. Admittedly, he was at a club with a terrible reputation for developing talent but 4 years is plenty of time to crack a team like Richmond.

File him away in the 'not as good as they originally appeared' folder and move on.

Delist Bedford or Arrowsmith, give J-On a punt, can't hurt and won't do any worse then Bedford or Arrowsmith

If he is eligible for a rookie spot I'd pick him up and show Bedford the door. Bedford has shown very little interest in playing for us and JON would cost us very little if anything at all.

The Richmond enviroment is poor compared to the Eagles when it comes down to player development, the fact that Cousins has walked in and is clearly their best player this year says alot.

I wouldn't use a spot on our senior list on him as he hasn't earned it but a rookie spot is worth the punt.:thumbsu:

Not interested. Can't get a game for Richmond. If he has issues in Melbourne, let him get delisted, come back to the WAFL for a year and prove himself.

I think he is guaranteed to get picked up by someone if he plays his cards right. I dont know why people would shy away from Richmond rejects... they are the Victorian Fremantle. David Rodan anyone???

In this years draft someone will give him a shot atleast, we would be in a prime position as his home state.

I remember reading somewhere last year that we tried to straight swap our pick50 somthing & morton for him and 22 but they denied it and wanted a draft pick above what we were going to give them so the deal fell through untill we propsed moron(sorry MORTON) for 22 which they agreed on! so I dont think they will give him up cheaply as they rate him highly at the club. But now that cotchin is playing maybe that might change as well.

we traded morton for 35, so your recollection is immediately stuffed

He won't be any worse than 2 players that we're discarding?
How is that a reason to pick him up?

At worst we lose a rookie list spot, at best we de-Richmondify him and he realises his potential he showed as a junior

Either way the risk of a rookie list spot isn't that massive a price to pay

I reckon 4 years is probably too long a time but I wouldn't be against giving him a punt if his attitude was right and the rookie draft was crap. I wouldn't expect him to make it though.

To whoever mentioned Rodan, keep in mind that Rodan had shown a lot more at Richmond than JON.

would rookie him for sure. low risk, potential huge reward.

this draft is pretty weak, so there wont be too many decent players left in the rookie draft. we could do a lot worse than pick a former top 10 draftee.

Spot on, let's not forget that through the rookie list punt we landed the likes of:
Dean Cox
Quinten Lynch
Chad Fletcher
Brett Jones
Steven Armstrong

ie about a quarter of our last premieship team
