Are you guys on crack or something?

We're on the rise in a big way and you want to give away a draft (no matter how low) for a guy who's a Richmond discard and is generally considered to be one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory?

Well would you want to play well for Richmond?

Its probably about more what he could be. Was well documented before he was picked he could have been anything, those sort of picks can go either way. Naturally talented, just needs the right home. Rookie list would be a good way to go, if he shows promise, well he gets a gig, if not well we gave him a second chance.

You never know what you may uncover by recycling another clubs unwanted goods, i.e. look at Freo's history
Clement
Bell
Medhurst
Farmer
McLeod

I'd be keen.
Seems eerily similar to the Rodan scenario.
Unless there is a rookie/late draft/PSD option seen to have more potential, then i say go for it.

I'd probably prefer to get Majak Daw with a PSD/rookie/late draft pick, he is a freak:

But other than that, I would be open to the proposition

What he said.
Seriously. Crack. Huge rocks of it.

All of those players were recognised as being skilled before they left their clubs. There is no similarity.

13 games in 3 years for an aboriginal kid does not sit well with me, it is a complete under development. Generally there first few years are always inconsistant add that to Richmonds development history and id absolutely give the kid a go...

Im hard pressed to think of a kid that Richmond has actually developed to be any good, like a bloke from the rookie list or a pick above 30??... guys like Richo and Cus have heart and would flourish anywhere.

Well, we know which way he went. It's well-known that Richmond selected him without even seeing him play a game.

And if it's so hard to play for Richmond, people forgot to tell Brett Deledio, Nathan Foley et al because they seem to be doing pretty well.

We would honestly be back to being the laughing stock of the AFL if we pick up that dud.

I reckon 4 years is probably too long a time but I wouldn't be against giving him a punt if his attitude was right and the rookie draft was crap. I wouldn't expect him to make it though.

To whoever mentioned Rodan, keep in mind that Rodan had shown a lot more at Richmond than JON.

Agreed, and Richmond still de-listed him. The point was that Richmond are hit and miss for developing players, even a guy like Rodan with his obvious talents and the fact he showed a bit at Richmond couldnt get past his third year...

Is there any footage of him anywhere as a junior or at Richmond? I've never seen him play.

As far as I'm concerned, any player from Richmond should be treated just like a junior. He obviously has talent, and spending a few years on their list pretty much makes him still an unknown:D

If there are no better prospects for the rookie list, don't see any reason not to give the kid a go, don't know why some of you are so quick to write him off. Sure he could turn out to be a dud, and this would be no surprise for someone on a rookie list.

There will always be better rookie options...

It's funny people use the rationalization of Rodan going to Port as the reasoning to pick up other Richmond rejects. But ask yourself, what has Rodan really done? He had above average - decent games at Richmond too but was horribly inconsistent and never really went on with it. Sure he's played some okay games with Port but he's still being dropped every 2nd week at and by my count he's been dropped 4 or 5 times this year alone. I don't regret losing him at all. What about Danny Meyer? We de-listed him, has he done anything at Port? Nope stuck in the 2's.

Your are obviously still bitter...

He has missed 3 games this year could just as likely been due to injury, kicked 13 goals 7 from the midfield averaged 19 disposals and 3.3 tackles (both stats up from last year), 101 clearances @ 5.3 a game and 52 I/S 50's. 4th in the club for tackles.

If you dont regret de-listing him your an idiot... De-listing Rodan after three years was incredibly stupid inconsistant or not. You always give a player like that time to prove himself, especially in Rodans case. Rodan highlights your clubs inability to spot talent and complete lack of player development, that is why people keep using him as an example.
