Davis, Wanganeen? Not that i mind the selection, it could pay off, it probably wont. Who cares, its our last pick in the rookie draft, we will just have to wait and see how it pans out.

I reckon that J-On is a selection in keeping with the spirit of the rookie draft. Picked on potential rather than results... Who know maybe a change of scene will help him realise his potential, clearly he has some according to the Wiseby profile.
 
I am going to be optimistic on this one.

Who knows how many potentially good players Richmond has ruined over the last decade.

Faith in Woodhouse, speculative picks are often the case in the RD and he is now at WC so hopefully we can help him get the best out of himself.:thumbsu:
 
We did the same thing with Danny Meyer last year.

Local boy originally taken with a high pick who may have been Wallaced, is cut, goes home and is recycled through the Rookie Draft.

If he flops, no loss whatsoever. If he fulfills or recaptures any of the potential that was obviously present as a junior he could be a very handy acquisition going forward with the compromised GC17/WS18 drafts just around the corner.

Whatever your preconceived notions of JON might be, the pick at least makes sense.

The reason Richmond supporters found JON frustrating is he clearly had talent but time and again he'd lock up like a deer in the headlights. If he marked, he'd stand there spinning the footy around in his hands while the opposition congealed in the backline. If he was on the move, he'd run sideways, ignore decent leads, then run out of options and give off to a contest.

I believe he could make a good footballer, but he needs to get his mental game right because he's been playing like he can't make a decision.

Come to think of it, I will at least expect him to make AA as captain, win the coleman and brownlow, become our captain halfway through the season and lead us to the premiership.

Nothing much really.

And about 60 of those would've been ineffective/clangers. I'm not even joking.

I didn't see even a smidgen of talent from JON while he was at our club. I think it was an old Tom Hafey quote that would come in handy now.

"He's played almost every game as a forward but, to me, he is a tall, creative, quick half-back or winger that's where he played all his junior footy and that is what he was recruited as," Egan said.

"He has often played in the dead pocket up forward and even then he is hardly given much time on the ground.

"I don't think the kid has had much of a chance. David Rodan was similar he didn't get much of an opportunity at Richmond but since moving to Port Adelaide he has blossomed under Mark Williams."
