Freo had a history of not seeing a downside to recruiting washed up discards from other clubs, looks like its in the fans DNA still.

No chance.

I disagree champ, if it was like the old days, Freo would of traded a 1st round pick to get him.

The J Pod as people like to refer to him as will be at your club in 2014. There is nothing surer.
There are other priorities that Fremantle are trying to work through regarding other players.

I'd rather we didn't. Doesn't seem quite right. Reeks a bit of desperation.

Again if any of you guys can think of getting a decent key forward without offering out 1st round pick, please let us all know.

Tabs is still 2 years away. Pods will be at freo in 2014.

Carltank have thrown their hat into the ring regarding JPod.
They have been linked to more players than freo. If you have a listen to the bond interview he eludes to a conversation with j-pods management. Basically saying he wanted to play on in 2014 and try for another premiership, something along those lines anyway. Carlton won't be in contention for the next 3-4 years, their list is horrible at the moment. He wants another flag, freo want a flag, perfect fit.

Everyone better get used to it soon. He will be hear in 2014 whether you like it or not.

As a Cat fan, I am an unashamed Freo admirer- imho, Pods would be perfect for your team. He wouldn't be used as a floating defender, and a new environment, supporting Pav would be perfect.
We are going youth, rebuilding, so Vardy, Kersten, Hamling etc are going to get game time.
Pods is a proven great player v Hawks, and that's who you're likely going to have to beat for the 2014 GF, and that is my tip.
Would be great to see him go around one more year and maybe do a Lake.

Was on the plane earlier today and watched Cats v Pies earlier this year. Pies were flogging Cats and pods was having a quiet day. Then suddenly he takes 2 ridiculously strong marks and goals in the goal square in 2 mins to put cats in front for the first time. We need someone like that

Though not as much is made about it, they are as desperate, if not more so, for a key fwd. Any player we're interested in they will be too, you can almost guarantee it.

They have the advantage of being in Melbourne (access to more players Vic based who aren't keen on the move to Perth), we have the advantage in that we've proven we're the real deal for a flag.

In Pod's case, our advantage will win. Unless they start throwing silly money around (Visy anybody ), we'll be in the box seat.

I'm still not convinced myself, but I must admit I'm coming around to the idea that JPod would be a good idea - still would rather Gumby myself.

Bond et al are obviously going to grab the fella if they can't get a younger-fitter-more-devastating-gadget and for mine I've admired his application, history and achievement since his AFL debut. For the record I'm happy for him to come aboard because I think he'll have Barlowesque levels of application and effort;however if it don't eventuate I wish him well and am certain we'll keep the hard club focus on improvement at all levels. It's a pretty professional set up with some very good judges in some important positions.

Yes, I call it the Freo effect. A player magically became more attractive once we announce we are interested in him. I expect Geelong to jump into the race as well soon.

Makes a difference from the old howls of laughter and being destined to be fremantled:mad::mad: .

Wouldn't you guys be better off playing Bradley as a second tall up forward?

I wasn't a fan of Kepler as he used to take overhead marks with his head bowed and his eyes closed, plus he often had a rubber chest. But in just 5 games this year he took 13 marks and kicked 7 goals with an average of 10.2 possessions per game. He and Pav would make a great combo up forward if Kepler got over his knee reconstruction.

Kep just aint a strong "True" KPF. we've only played him like that because of lack of depth. he's just not good enough over head and doesn't play that role at well enough. plays more like a small forward/Flanker, bit like Lecras...... just with less class but more OMG factor

Maybe, but given how looks like he's held together with rubber bands and has to get over a reco, he'll take a while to come back.

I wouldn't mind having Pods for only a year. He could be just what we need to go all the way in 2014.

That's what we did at the start of the year. Then Pav went down then Bradley went down.

All we really needed this year was a tall that has more goal sense than a ruckman alongside Pav and he provided that and kicked 2 or 3 goals a game when he or Pav played in the side together. Except the Essendon game where he played down back because of McPharlin being subbed out.

I still don't no either.

For me, we have tried to get a tall with at least 5 years to make the transition from Pavlich alot smoother. Which we hasnt pulled off. So lets go for Pods for two years and then draft a stack of talls. Short and long term options. When Pav and Pods retire then attempted again for another tall for the medium term option.

Maybe in two years the new rotation might make it impossible to be too top heavy. Just like the sub rule did to playing two ruckman.
