JPod has dropped off markedly this year with his pace. Been thinking all year he played one season too many. I would be concerned about his ability to run out our game plan on the expanses on Subiaco even if he comes for the price of a packet of chips.
Bradley, Gumby even another preseason with Hannath (pace off the mark) or MT (bulk) or Silvagni into defense and McPharlin forward would probably be better options.

Plenty of Geelong supporters know his time was up.

Seems like a no-brainer to me. The bloke is big, attracts the second or third tall defender, makes multiple leads, can mark, can kick goals and would be cheap.
Surely the Cats are only marching him off because they're set to give Kersten and Walker playing time next season. Only reason he wouldn't want to play here is the expanse of the Nullarbor.
Even if there is another option brewing (eg Riewoldt) we can't afford to sit on our hands with this chance.
Jump on this one Bondy or we may come up one KPF short yet again!

A Freo mate rang me today from South Perth... Apparently J Pod and J Hunt were having a coffee with Michael Prior!
The fact it was both of them together is a little odd but maybe you are sounding them out?

Not sure what role Prior fills at the club but the meeting did happen!

Can't see what J-pod offers that Kepler can't do. Rucking, marking, kicking the freak goals, crashing packs. Ross even starting playing him in defence in the last preason to make him more versatile.

We would get more years out of Kepler than Pods in the long run...

Sorry, mate, must disagree. We're talking short run here. In a crucial spot in a Grand Final, if you had the choice of having J-Pod or Kepler, I'm going with J-Pod. Not personal with Kep, just business. J-Pod has been on bigger stages and performed on them. If J-Pod would cost anything of great significance, that's one thing. But he's an unrestricted free agent. Grab him.

If he's free, willing to sign a one year deal and is motivated... then why not?

Can someone tell me what the worst case scenario is? He gets injured or spends a whole year at Peel taking a defender away from Tabs?

Given we lost Pitt, Forster, Faulks and Crichton off the main list - added Sylvia, then we are required to delist another senior listed player to fit J-Pod on our list. So the worst case is that he never plays a game for Freo, costs us $300,000 and we watch one of our young players succeed in another club's colours.

I'd rather have the option to play him if he is fit, I think we will try and bundle our picks and players for better positions in the draft anyway.

I think the option would be JPod for Kepler.

Yea I highly doubt that given the Geelong best and fairest was on in Melbourne last night....

Given the discussion going around at the moment I suspect that there is a at least one probably to senior list players to go with trades. If this is the case there are two options. Player for player swap or player for position swap. Whilst the first of those is possible I still advocate using a Michie type person to upgrade our picks so we can snag a good forward prospect. This is mute if we can trade in a Sam Reid type as some are saying we will.

Pods will be handy if we ever need a bag kicked against a rubbish team. Against good sides he's ratshit.

Flat track bully of the highest order.
I could be wrong, but hasnt he kicked a bag or two against the Hawks?

J-pod would be a significant upgrade on Kepler Bradley and you know it. J pods last great game was against our mob and he kicked 3 goals. One goal I liked was when he took a contested pack mark and then kicked the goal afterwards from a straight shot.

12 months ago Freo were chasing after Travis Cloke and were offering cloke 1 million a year for 4-5 years.
Even if Pods has dropped off his pace, he is 193 cm and 100 kg. He can take a contested mark Like Pav.

I would give him a 2 year contract. If you can name one decent elite key forward that wants to join us, then please tell us.

Pav and Pod, I like it.... get it done chris bond.

Kicked 6 one game 2 years ago. Take that out and he averages just 2. Generally does not have a good record against good sides over the last few years. Averages 1.2 goals against Collingwood for example. Been bashing up on Melbourne for years. Averages 2.5 goals per game at Kardinia Park, less than 2 on every other ground (except Metricon and the Gabba where, funnily enough, Geelong play crap sides). Awful finals record, 9 games for 13 goals, averages less than 10 possessions a game. His last game against us he kicked 3.2, but 1.1 was from off the ball free kicks completely unrelated to his ability, and other than 1 strong contested mark had little impact on the game. Worryingly, it was his 3rd best performance of the year, behind games against Port and (surprise surprise) GWS.

A couple of years ago he was a good player, but hasn't averaged 2 goals a game since 2011.

Do. Not. Want.

understand what your saying, but how many goals does ... DEBOER kick?? he kicks a goal a game yes, and takes the 2nd defender away from Pav. As he has done for Hawkins so many times, would be good for this reason alone, and proven against weaker defenders he kicks goals so if you sag off and dont pay respect (Play like a weak defender) he'll kick goals.

I will be happy enough if thats all thats left. I just really hope there is a secret storm a brewin in the dungeons of the fremantle recruitment offices. Something that will surprise everyone. AKA Buddy and swan poos

If Deboer was 33 next year he'd probably get delisted.

Bottom like with pods is that we've clearly seen his best, and he's not likely to be any better than his 2013, which was ordinary and highly likely to be worse.

Don't really think so. Last year we all thought the same, but then we randomly nabbed Danyle Pearce and that was that. Same thing this year with Sylvia. Happy to be proved wrong, but can't really see us being linked with any more deals this trade period.

i rekon there'll be a big trade, addition of midfielders makes me think so.

God there are some idiots in this thread. You know who you are, you have said he is past it in this thread.

You mustn't be real Freo fans because if you were you would remember that he kicked 3.2 against the best defense in the league 5 weeks ago.
He was one out against Dawson for most of the game, which is sadly Zac's biggest weakness. Furthermore, Podsiadly kicked exactly zero goals over his next two games, games which Geelong had a better chance of winning.
