Except at this stage of the season other teams are also playing without their best VFL side available. That won't be the case should we make the AFL Granny (unless we've the same opponents in both comps, Willy and Collingwood for example).

True. Which is silly because if both played out the H&A season Pendles would have had about 3 games more than Selwood, but now if Selwood plays all the games he'll end up with about 3 games more than Pendles.

And Pendlebury ahs had 2 afl pre-seasons. Selwood has had one.

He is now a certanty regardless.

Wouldn't it be a little difficult winning the VFL flag when the cream's still in the firsts? The odds may be longer than the bookies' estimated price.

Actually, its almost the opposite. In the VFL, AFL listed players have to have played at least 6 VFL games, unless their side is still competing in the AFL finals. So for instance, where a player like Blake or Selwood may not have been eligible for the VFL grand final, if Geelong are still in it, they can then play in the VFL.

There is a game and age limit but there is also a rule like the brownlow, that if one is suspended they are inegliable for the award. So Selwood doesnt have it in the bag. He could very easily get reported and if he does, methinks maybe Westhoff could steal it.

Does anyone know if we've yet scrapped that disastrous selection policy of playing AFL listed boys in finals ahead of VFL back-up? We're still looking top heavy, and I'd hate to see another 'McCarthy for Cook' farce, should it be wet.
