i would love to play our players in their best role for a change. Sick of the " Leigh Brown" alternatives or " Swingman" roles. Just play them where comfortable and where most likely to best peform, go to plan B after that. Reid to CHB . Cloke to CHF , White to FF. Bring Reid forward if we are really struggling. Other than that he has to stay back

The club has been pretty clear about going with 3 key forwards and frankly Brown, Keeffe and Frost should be fine down back with a Scharenberg and Langdon to come and take Maxy's spot when warranted, not many clubs would have that kind of structure or talent coming through down the spine and 2 young quality rucks to boot.

Tall, Strong, Athletic .......Jessie White could be a great CHB. Chris Tarrant became a far more consistent player when he settled as a key Back. This looks to be our key weakness coming into 2014. Could JW be part of the solution?

Mick, is that you?

I can't see him doing a better job than Keefe or Brown who are both pretty solid defenders. I think we need to accept White for what he is. He is not going to be a gun key position tall but he provides a good foil for our key forwards and his athleticism at the least is going to provide an awkward matchup for opposition sides. + he can substitute ruck

The time to re-train him as a defender isn't now, but it could be an option in a few months if:

1. He doesn't cut it as a forward
2. He doesn't cut it as a second ruck
3. The club decide to go with 2 genuine ruckmen and Reid continues to be a better forward option.

I see all 3 options above being serious possibilities and in fact I think that number 2 is highly probable.

If things don't work out in the role he's been recruited for, he's too athletically gifted to not be tried in another position.

Cloke, Reid, and White have now played a grand total of 2 preseason games together as forwards. Yet we have these suggestions already to get White back, get Cloke back(!) to help out in defence, positions neither have played before at AFL level.

What would we lose from trying it? How about the lost opportunity from having our key forwards actually playing together another time? It is critical to develop that understanding and teamwork. We haven't given it any time at all before these knee-jerk, drastic suggestions start coming up.

I think our forward line lacks balance and defensive pressure when we are too tall up forward, I don't think we can accommodate, Cloke, Reid, and White, and maintain forward defensive pressure. This pressure protects the back half by locking the ball in front for longer periods... Like 2010 side. Reid seems to get injuries.....White may be more robust and therefore provide more stability in the back half

In 2010 Cloke, Dawes, and Brown seemed to work okay. No reason to think Cloke, Reid, and White won't.
