While the club insisted yesterday he was expected to play, a history of foot-related injury suggests he would not be risked, especially on a six-day break and four-hour flight. ''He came off the track early yesterday, but it was more precautionary than anything,'' football manager Geoff Walsh said. ''We'll reassess how he is in the next 24 hours, but I don't think there'll be an issue.

Well I guess the beauty of our depth means that if Medhurst is unable to play then JA is the perfect replacement and is in form. Just hope that this means we don't go in too top heavy.

Regardless of my feelings towards the Jack/Dawes argument of whom should be lining up at full-forward, I reckon if Jack gets a run, he'll get stuck in his first week back and fire up.

We'll still be too top heavy, and as much as i admire tarx Caff is faster, taller, heavier, tackles more and can still be of use back as well as forward and midfield

I think Anthony would be more effective in the wet than people seem to think. I'd be more comfortable with him playing in the wet than Dawes, without a doubt.

Anthony is reasonably quick and agile, and will play with tenacity. I think he'd suit a scrappy type of game.

To be honest Medhurst is the only player he can replace right now, assuming no other injuries to Dawes or Cloke. I dont think him coming in for Medders will affect team balance. Should be good to watch the three pronged attack.

Anthony has played in Collingwood's VFL team since being dropped after round two, but the forward was among an extended squad that flew out of Melbourne Airport on Thursday morning for the top-of-the-table clash.

Jaxson Barham also flew with the squad for what midfielder Luke Ball described as the “probably the biggest trip in footy at the moment”.

You could make a case for any of the three taking Medders place if he doesn't come up.
