Ok. Monday is officially over, so I'm over the post mortem.
What about young Jack?
The boy has been very good.
He can kick straight, which is extremely pleasing and his attack on the ball and or ball carrier is equally intense. Good field passing and knows where to kick it.
Averaging 2.2 goals per game, only behind P. Medhurst 2.7, is also very promising for a 5 game player who has scored in every game I believe.

JAJH, congratulations you must be a proud dad.

it seems he is going unnoticed by the larger football community as well

cmon now, it is a hell of a mighty impressive debut season so far. as a defender thrown into the deepend, has scored AT LEAST 2 goals in each game. his first two kicks were two goals as well..

he should get nominated for a rising star

As well as kicking goals himself, Anthony is getting goal assists too. He's averaging 3.4 goals created per game (that's 2.2 goals per game from himself, and 1.2 goals per game assisted on). That's very good for a first year player, especially one who was/is touted as a defender.

Anthony really has the look of a cult figure, with his standout bald head, as well as having the look of an experienced player, with the way he moves and uses the footy. He looked so confident against the Kangaroos, as he has done in other games too. Hopefully that can continue (as well as him flying under other clubs' radar), and he won't end up as a flash in the pan-type.

he has a bit of prick in him too...justwhat our team needs. this kid should be a 200 game player for our club... good luck to him.. seems like we have unearthed another gem... would like to see him get more passes from the midfield though.. has the best kick ive seen at our club in years...

i hope he keeps the cone head look.. he looks mean..

For a young defender who is playing up forward, he is doing a great job.

I can't wait to see how he goes in defence against AFL standard forwards. You can never have enough mongrel back there.

Plus it's always handy to have a swing man for the future.

I agree :thumbsu:

He looks to have a fair bit of fire in him, which is definitely needed, especially in the forward line. The chrome dome and the fierce eyebrows add it too :D

Terrific talent, but an ugly brute if I have ever seen one.

I would expect that from the supporter of a team with a very low appreciation of aesthetics. Your colours are terminally vulgar.

John Anthony is a very good looking boy - very manly and with real character in his face - see below. But as you acknowledge his talent, I forgive your poor judgement.

He looks like Michael Stipe according to the Channel 7 commentators, which is appropriate because in front of goal he's Automatic For The People! :D

It's great to see the impact that someone can make, when they're a great exponent of the game's fundamental skill, ie. kicking the bloody thing. Looking forward to Jack having a long and successful career at the Pies. :thumbsu:

Hey guys,

I remember against Richmond when he slotted that goal on the run I thought he'd really kept his cool well to finish that off after creating some space. Looks a very good player and looks to be a pretty versatile inclusion.

Always good to have a promising up and comer and this kid has been great over the past few weeks.

Love the new shaved head look too! Makes him look real mean! :thumbsu:

Very good looking bunch of boys we have! :D :thumbsu:

Everytime I have seen him play I think "This bloke is a defender". IMO he will end up at FB. Has all the tools to make a great defender. Did he play that position in the VFL beforehand?

why do i get the feeling that hes not really part of the team//

he feels like an outsider to me lol

is it just me?

I went down to training last week and he was as much apart of the team as you could be. Also had a rush of fans run his way for autographs/photos at the end of the session... pretty good for a guy who would have been barely recognised a month ago.

Importantly, Jack is definitly good looking, however the shaved head isn't working for me. I am prepared to sacrifice his hair during the season though if it improves his game IF he grows it in the off-season. :p:p

Lol for all you people that keep going on about him being Good looking
you would of loved him at Future Music had his shirt off lol and is a top bloke funny bastard

i know hes been good for us up forward and we have struggled for big guys with accurate goal kicking. But its exciting to know we may have him and brown in our backline for the next ten years , if he does eventually go down back. someones got to fill that chb void, do people think he could take that role eventually?

goldsack brown obrien
shaw anthony clarke

pretty young backline , i love maxwell and will always defend him. but that backline would be something to look forward to. maybe even fit in there somewhere the inclusion of keefe ? is it

back on topic , extremely impressed with JA, plays older than his age. thats an awesome sign of a good player
